My acer laptop computer wont let my AT&T GSM wireless devise connect...I believe the problem is Acer's system manager.
Is there a way to get around it or shut it down?
I have previous experience with this wireless connections. I'm not familiar with AT T GSM device. In my experience I found that the manager can play up, but you can switch to windows manager depending on what windows you have. In Windows XP go to your control panel. Click on network connections, then select the wireless network connection. On the screen a window with the network connections should appear. Then on the left hand side down the bottom it will have Change advanced settings, and click on that. Then another screen appears with Wireless Network Connection Properties. Click on Tab Wireless Networks. On that page click on "Use Windows to Configure my wireless network". Once done, click okay or apply if appears. Restart computer and see if windows picks up you wireless connection provided you have WIFI on your laptop! Try that, let me know if you need more help!
Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.
If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.
Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.
Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.
Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.
Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.
Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire.
Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.
Restart the computer.
The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver.
Restarting the computer corrects this issue.
hope this helps
