HPC Monitor won't change input

Try a replacement remote control. A good one is a Philips Universal which can be found at Walmart or Right-aid. Around $14 bucks, and is very modern and up to date for just about all flat panel sets. (It's also a learning remote, so it will learn remotes).

My problem is that when I try to connect my Toshiba satellite to my Philips TV using a VGA cable, I can only run it in save mode, which ruins the point. When I try to boot in normally, all I get is a...

Make sure your VGA cable works by using it on another computer or desktop just to rule out the possibility of a defective VGA cable. If the cable is good, then boot your computer as normal without the VGA cord and then once it is booted up, plug the VGA cable in, go to the start menu and type "multiple" into the search box. then click on "Set up your computer to use multiple monitors" and you should be able to fix it using those settings.
Hope this helps, Nathan Taylor

I have Dell Inspiron 2650 and AverMedia AverkeyPlus and Philips 100Hz tv, but I cant get the picture on tv.When pc starts well, but after only on compjute.

There is usually a software control for the VGA port. Look for something that looks like a monitor on the function keys at the top of the keyboard. You will have to hold the "Fn" key down while pressing the F7 or which ever function key has the monitor on it. These take a couple seconds to work, so toggle slowly through the modes. There is usually a mode for monitor only (which is what you have now), one for both VGA port and monitor, and one mode for VGA port only.

I have a philips 37PF9946/12 tv and am struggling to connect my laptop to it, please help the laptop and tv both have vga connections x

The laptop should connect to the tv through the vga port. Just get a cable that is the correct gender on both ends and make sure the mode in the computer is set so that it outputs the vga signal from the graphics card. Maybe look in the control panel for settings.

Which accessories are a 'most have' for connecting my TV to a desktop pc?

You'll need:
•VGA cable
•S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable
•HDMI cable
•DVI cable
Check the connection options on your TV. If your TV has a VGA connection slot, plug the TV into the computer with a VGA cordlike a computer monitor. Connect one end of the VGA cable to the back of the computer and the other end to the TV. Switch between normal TV viewing to displaying your computer on your TV by selecting the proper mode from the remote control, some remotes will mark the proper mode as "VGA" while others will label it "Computer" or "PC."
Check the back of your computer to see if you have an S cable slot. Connect S cable portion of the S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable to the computer and plug in the green audio plug to the audio port of the PC. Plug the red white and yellow RCA cables into the matching colors of the RCA slots on the TV. With this method you will need to switch modes from TV to video.
Check the back of the computer and TV for either DVI or HDMI slots. The slots on your computer must match, you cannot connect a DVI to a HDMI. Plug one end of the corresponding cable into the the back of the TV and the other end into the computer. Choose the correct program mode, HDMI or DVI, from the remote to view the computer from the TV.

Resolution set too high ..no picture cant get safe mode to work up down arrow buttons wont move ..computer wants to start normal...cant get into computer with no monitor display ...help...brand new...

Sounds like you need to boot up in VGA mode instead of Safe Mode

Step 1. Power Down your computer.

Step 2. Powwer on your computer and press F8 to enter Safe Mode

Step 3. Instead of selecting Safe Mode, Select VGA mode.

Step 4. Once in Windows, uninstall your graphics card for your Monitor.

Step 5. Restart your machine, when you log back in Windows will reinstall the drivers for your monitor.
