Panasonic TH-42PWD8 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television Questions & Answers
HPC Monitor won't change input
Try a replacement remote control. A good one is a Philips Universal which can be found at Walmart or Right-aid. Around $14 bucks, and is very modern and up to date for just about all flat panel sets. (It's also a learning remote, so it will learn remotes).

The factory diagnostic for an 8 blink error code is: Driver SOS 3 SS-Board / SS2-Board; SS FPC Detect; SS Energy Recovery Circuit. Basically it means that the current absorbed by the X-Sus board is too high. It looks like this

You will need to open the tv and check the connections to this board and all the components on it. Also check the filtering capacitors from the power output line that powers this board.
If you can't find anything wrong then the entire board will have to be replaced.

Pana TH-52PWD8UK. No picture, flashing red LED on front panel
Thanks for the quick answer. I purchased the set in 2005 and it lives outside under an overhang on my patio in humid South Florida.
Unfortunately, I couldnt count the red flashes before it went completely dead. Think it was 4or 5. This would correspond with a possible fuse failure on the Power supply. I bought the online service manual, I just wish I knew what to do with it!! The fuses both seem to check out ok on a continuity check. any ideas?
Thanks,
Charlie

If you cannot find the remote control at all, you will need to reprogram the EPROM IC. This IC is inside the tv, with numbers starting or in between 24c02.... Please contact any qualified tehnican for further help. The IC i mentioned is programmed and at present it is locked through Hotel Mode. Also try to look RESET switch, to reset the whole unit. Thanks
