HELP i have a minolta dimage z20. it will not power up.batteries are good, light comes on when the power button is pushed but it seems to freeze up. the green power light will come on but to turn it off, u have to pull the batteries. to my knowledge there has been no trama to the camera, worked just fine when it was put back in case. not exposed to any extream elements, no water or anything like that. any suggestions on where to even start trying to find out the problem...thanks so much, monica

It's possible you have physically damaged it but not certain. One old engineers trick to reset anything microchip based is to unplug the device, both power and connection cable, and hold down the power/on button for 30 seconds (time it as it seems to take forever when you are waiting) this will discharge any static and reset the chip-set to defaults. With that done completely reinsert reinsert the negative tray/holder *before* reconnecting power and test it. No guaranties at this point but defiantly the place to start. Message back if this is no help.

Ensure that your memory card is not a SDHC. Your camera does not support it.

Sth mechanical. Refer to a service center and I hope it be still in warranty.

First try formatting the card again. If you cant do that then try another card. If that does not work remove the batteries from the camera, wait 30 mins and put the batteries back and try again. make sure that the batteries are fully charged and try running the camera without the external memory card just so you can check that it functions correctly. If not then it is a visit to service repair.

It could be - or it could be a problem with the PC.
Connect the camera to the pc, go into device manager (right+click on My Computer> down to Device Manager) and see if it is registering a problem.
Delete the camera from device manager (highlight it, press DEL), disconnect the camera from the PC. Power cycle the camera, then connect it back up - you should see the computer finding the camera again.
If not, check a different computer or buy a new cable,

did you try using the camera with a different data cable? there could be a peoblem with the data cable you are using

I had problem with my LCD not working too.I started pushing the controller button around and it started working.I'm afraid to u wd40 on it,it seems like maybe something is sticking.Maybe this will work for you.

we have the same problem.....just started today...on a vacation trip...go figure!?

Well, I also bought the DiMAGE Z2, and my problem was similar: It worked for some time, but then it started freezing sometimes, not responding to any button I pressed. One time, it froze, shut off, and I wasn't able to power it up again. In short, the camera was still under its warranty, so I gave it to their lab and they fixed the problem.
