Replacing infinite switch:

Thanks for helping me. There are two switches circular one and a flat one. Which one is the infinite swith? I guess the circular switch is working alright, I say so because the larger burner works correctly with all temp setting, low to high. Only the Smaller burner option with the flat switch doesn't work. What do I do?

SOURCE: right front burner not functioning properly

Hello amerwit

Hello ,
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

Sounds like you have a bad switch that needs to be replaced in your electric range!
How old is this range?

You will need a good service tech, hands on for this!
Let me know how it goes,
Huuum

Here is an interesting report I just read!
Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old range

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your range,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your range is under warranty or less than four years old ,
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that ranges under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your ranger is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new range.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive range
eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of ranges you replace are likely to end up in a landfill.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Lost control of hob rings 3 of them go from cold to boiling, only on or off,

I would recommend replacing the infinite switch and the element you are having trouble with. If you only replace the infinite switch, damage could have been done to the element coils themselves.

Hello. We have a Whirlpool Accubake range and we heard a pop and saw a spark under one of our 8" burners. What ever happened tripped the circut. After resetting the circut, the rest of the oven and...

I had a problem with my Whirlpool range. It would not regulate temperature properly on the two large 8" burners. I found the problem was the "infinite switch". The infinite switch regulates temperature of the electric stove elements.

I found this video (see youtube link below) informative and it solved my problem. I found the correct infinite switch on Amazon (my infinite switch was this $21.00 one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XLEJ7M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The fix to replace 2 infinite switches (both 8" burner switches) took me 1 hour, including cleaning the floor under the stove (nasty!). All was well afterward.

Hi: I have an bathroom heater fan, Thermosafe model:3208,(new Zealand) one day i found out that i could not turn it on, it even not make the "clip" sound (this heater wasn't designed...

From your description, it sounds like the pull chain ON/OFF switch is broken.Admittedly, this is the first time I have ever heard of a pull chain switch being on an electric heater, But, I guess it is in the ceiling and not wired to a wall switch, it's the only way to turn it ON or OFF. I wouldn't think that replacing the pull chain switch would be that difficult or expensive to replace. Most home centers and hardware stores sell this type of switch for use in ceiling fans, The key would be removing the faulty switch and taking it with you to buy a new one. You want to be sure that the new switch matches the amperage and polarity of the old switch.

As far as the unit only being a year old and the switch failing so quickly ... it's in a warm moist environment 24 hours a day. It doesn't surprise me that the switch broke. You might want to consider replacing the pull chain switch with a hard wired wall switch. Certainly, it would cost more than replacing the pull chain switch, but you'd never have that problem again.

I hope this helped you, Mary. Please let me know.

The Switching should go like this

The contacts where the black wires attach are the points on the switch that break when continuity is checked.

Infinite Switch on Amana Stove

I would start with P1. The "P" terminal is for the "element on" indicator light on the panel. Start with P1 then turn on that element and check the light for operation. P2 is most likely a loop through. Hope that helps.
