Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range
We have a GE Profile gas stove with the center burner (which has the removeable plate for pancakes, etc. The center burner will not light all around, only half of it will ignite. We've cleaned it, tried everything. It worked when we bought it. We bought it only about 14 months ago.
I had this same problem. You will need to lift off the burner and remove the two 9/32" nuts and lock washers from the bottom of the center burner. Then separate the top section from the bottom. You will need to clean the inside of both sections down using a green scotchbrite pad removing and debris or small surface film the may have built up. Then rinse with warm water and dry them well. Reassemble it and your burner should work as good as new. Remember even just a small grease film on the burner holes will create this issue.

had same problem with mine it was a bad burner a new one was 122.51 with tax. i tried the swich first and wasnt the problem. if you pull the burner out take a picture of the wires so you know where they go (theres 5) when you drop the burner you can see where the element is burnt. if the switch is the problem contact me aman2222000 @yahoo.com two 1/4 inch screws hold the top down if you open the oven you will see them and a phillips head screw driver takes the burner out. michael

You probably have a 1940's model of Magic Chef. Check for the model number under the lid of the cook top on the upper right hand side of the stove. It should have the model number and the serial number, too. You will need both. The Old Applicance Club run by Jack Santoro is the place to go along with a site called "Antique gas stoves"in Georgia. Good luck with the world of vintage stoves.

SOURCE: What is it??? How do u do it???
The button is a thermostat that measures the temperature of the pan, there's probably some cutesy name for the function, but it allows you to have more regulated heat on that burner.
