If your drive is truly just a ROM drive, then all it can do is read. Most systems today ship with DVD-RW drives, but yours might be read-only. Some systems came with combo drives that would burn CDs but only read DVDs. If you find you can burn files onto CD but not DVD, that could be why.

If your system has a DVD-RW drive, it's not unusual for them to develop the strange problem that they can burn one type of disc but not the other. This is because of the optical system, which is like two systems in one package to handle the two kinds of media.

If the drive has been working properly and now just won't burn at all, make sure you have the settings correct in whatever burning software. Then replace the drive. New drives are so inexpensive now that if they stop working it's not worth any effort to try fixing them.

My acard technology pro burns dvds but the target dvds end up all scratchy like quality the pixels move and everything

is resolutions pixel problem only on the dvd disks you burn?
you might have to save the dvd to a file first then burn it to a dvd
are you copyning from another dvd or from a saved file ??
you might be burning it as data
this might be a problem with the quality of the dvd disks you are using or might be the software you are using there are lots of free burning sofrware programs on the internet
this might be because you have not selected the option to burn an audio or data dvd or your burning software does not support dvd burning
there are plenty of free burning software programs on the internet

I want to watch a dvd through normal cd rom do u know any software which allows us to

You would need to upgrade your CD-Rom drive to a DVD CD-Rom drive
Or,
you would need to rip, then convert the video file from the DVD and burn onto a regular CD. Durring this process you would also have to convert the file.

Not able to burn dvds from file

Hi,

if your DVD Drive ( ROM ) read-Only-Memory. then it will only read DVDs And Not Write Them. You need a DVD RW Drive, to be able to write. If Your CD Drive Is A CD/RW That means its a CD Re-writable drive. try a Burn To CD.

Dvd writer does not burn on raw file system cds

What OS are you using? I doubt it is the burner. I have the same model burner and it burns everything I try to burn just fine. It works on both my XP SP2 installation and the OS X86 Leopard 10.5.5 installation. I have burned video, data and bootable OS DVDs and CDs in both operating systems.

It may just be Nero. You could try Alcohol 120% or Ultra ISO.
