You have reached the end life of the battery pack. The battery must have some minimum charge to have computer function even with the AC power pack connected. So I suggest you replace the battery pack as a solution. Any local Radio Shack store can test this battery I am told free of charge.
Hi, this could be an unhelpfull suggestion but the charger may not be compatable with your laptop. Laptops notoriosly have different power settings, you may be forced to purchase a new Acer charger. Try ebay, you may be lucky
How old is your battery? When you use your laptop, do you run it on just the battery or do you use your a/c adapter and battery? If you're going to use your laptop for an extended period of time, it's recommended to remove the battery and run off of a/c power alone. This helps to extend the life of your battery. Over time, using both a/c and battery will cause your battery to charge/discharge, which dramatically shortens the life of the battery.
You may simply have a dead battery.
Another alternative is that you have a bad power unit, which is what the a/c adapter plugs into on your laptop. My guess is that you most likely have a dead battery.
you need a new battery it happened to my mom's desktop and she took it in and they told her to get a new power sorce so you most likley need a new battery
I had to buy an new ac/dc plug piece off of ebay (cost only like $3 bucks) to sodder onto the mother board of my Acer. Somehow the little plastic/metal piece you plug into your computer comes off the mother board really easy. Acer wanted me to purchase a whole new mother board (at frigging $350), which, frankly wasn't an option. So I bought the little plug gizmo, soddered it on, and I'm doing good now.
