I put in a pre-owned game that just came fresh from gamestop, and it started going okay. It did the caution message and the list of sponsers, and when it started to play the intro, it froze. After a couple of seconds, the screen went black and a message popped up and said: "Error: wii cannot read disc. Please refer to wii operations manual for details." I checked the disc, and it was just fine. No scratches or smudes. None of my other wii games do this. I would very much like to know the reason.

Maybe it was a one time only thing. If it continues again then just take the game back to them and get another one. If your wii is softmodded, check online what Cios you need to run the game.

Hi, I suggest the same as Gaming Great. The wifi board may have just come loose on it's contacts. (as you look at the pcb it is on left of the silver game slot. Press back on if loose.
You can always fold a piece of paper and push into the square hole inside the rear of the casing. This will help keep it on if loose.
It could be that it is a pre-owned game, I have had problems with pre-owned games, and have bought a new game that has not been used.
Also I have just recently bought that game and had to do and update to the xbox 360 when trying to play that game, you should have got a message to update the system when trying to start the game.
I would suggest you to order it online. Here's a link to the GameStop website, it says the game is pre-owned but it is guaranteed to work. You could also try Amazon, 2nd link.
Your problem is the small battery inside. The battery has shifted since the original purchase. That battery is what completes and holds the save files in your game Pak until you turn it on again. The only way to solve this problem is to send the Pak into Nintendo. If you have owned the Pak for more than 3 months, the fee will be $10.
..bring it back to 'Gamestop' & tell them truthfully that the PSP you bought doesn't play UMDs.
.. maybe there're problem's with the UMDs? Are they pre-owned?
If the PSP is brand new when you bought it, you can claim for FREE repairs, or perhaps a replacement from SONY! Mostly warrantys are just 1yr period, so you better 'do what you have to do' before Christmas!
When you insert a UMD into the PSP, then what happens? What appears on the screen?
