I have a pentax optio A30 with 2.0 gb card. I took pictures last night of my grandsons birthday and was viewing them in the camera as I took them. Tonight I went to put them on my computer and i get a message on my camera that says " card not formatted" and I cannot find my pictures in the camera, and I cannot upload them at all - I was just looking at them last night. I have not done anything with my camera. HELP!!! How could I have lost my grandson's pictures when they were all there last night - nobody has touched my camera either. HELP HELP HELP. Where did they go and how can I get them back????? Are they gone forever and why. Now what am I going to do. These were precious memories. Kim

I hope you didn't format the card because that erases the pics forever. You could get a separate card reader and try to download them that way. You could take the card to a store like Walmart and plug the card into one of their picture making machines. When your pics show up, you can print them or even make a cd of them.

No picture in the view finder it's just black.

After you took a picture you have to press the > button, to view the picture. I can't find any setting so the camera will show each picture after you took it.
There is a short version of the manual online.

I have an Optio S camera. We haven't used it in a while because we lost the battery charger. We bought a new one and we took some pictures last night but they are not saving to the SD card. The card...

They are being saved to the internal memory of the camera. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the instructions to erase the internal memory. Insert your card and it should now work properly.

How do I get the photos off my camera to my computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

My camera is locked. I cannot view all my pictures on my camera, only the last picture I took.

When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

Memory card error and deleted some saved pictures

try using another memory card. I would take the memory card back to the shop and ask for another one. I had the same problem. it was the card, not the camera.

Pentax Optio T10 turning off immediately

My optio t10 did basically the same thing...turned on, lens goes out, then automatically shut off. I took the advice of a solution listed here for another problem...hit the camera. For whatever reason it worked.

Optio X visual defects

I've not seen any such defects on my Optio X, although I don't use flash much. The some-300 photos I've taken so far are completely clean. Sounds like dust on the CCD. Might warrant a return to Pentax.
