This Realtek Audio Driver ALC880 ALC882 worked for the HP Pavilion a1240n (EG136AA) I've put all five RAR parts into 1 compressed folder
Here--> http://www.mediafire.com/?fls50o85uo2o7t0
(Thanks goes out to Gamefront!)
All five parts can be obtained individually

No Sound, Sound device not showing up on HP a1240n motherboard D33005

you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems

be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer
cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that

there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD you might even remove the sound card to clean the socket dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems

hope this helps

I upgraded my hp a1240n with windows 7 but Ihave no sound

1. Check under device manager if you have audio device driver.
2. If no device driver download the audio device driver (check if you have win 7 32 bit or 64bit this is important) if there is audio device driver uninstall and reinstall the driver.

Check the link below from HP.
1. Go to the link
2. Go to > Select your product
3. Select operating system
4. Below there will be the list of drivers

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=1118267

If you were able to install the driver for win 7 and still nothing happen it is a posible hardware issue.

HP Pavilion dv1000 PC Notebook Audio Problem

There are two different audio cards shipped with Pavilion DV1000 series Notebooks.

If your Notebooks belong to DV1600 series, your Notebook should have been shipped with Conexant High Definition Audio card.

This can be one of the reason why you are unable to install the Conexant AC Link audio drivers in your Notebooks.

You need to install Microsoft UAA Drivers first before installing the Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers in the Notebook.

Download the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) Drivers for your Notebook from the HP link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Please save the file in the Notebook and double click it after the download completes to install the drivers. Restart the Computer once the installation of the Microsoft UAA Drivers is completed.

Now download the Conexant High Definition audio drivers from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32864.exe

Save the file and double click on it once it is saved to install the Drivers.

This should solve the issue with audio in your Notebooks.

Hope this helps...

HP a1240n recommended upgrades

HP a1240n has no AGP or PCI-E Slot, so your left with PCI VGA CARD.

Here is a link for PCI video cards.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048%201069609642&bop=And&Pagesize=100

Pick the card that suites your needs ( Pick those with Direct X 9)
note: The higher, the core clock, The better.
The higher the memory and bit, the better.
