Hello and thank you for allowing me to help you.

PLEASE reward the ACCEPTED best answer

******There are several ways to configure your setup, we will cover the most cost efficient way first****

1. You can purchase a TV TUNER PCI CARD or AVG GREEN OR BLACK PORT (SHORTER) to plug straight into your WHITE COLOR slot
2. All you would need is a TV COAXIAL cable to plug straight into the available coaxial cable slot AFTER installing the software
3. You will know that your install went well when you do not receive any errors
4. You will more than likely receive a remote control with your new card

More expensive method

1. Purchase a USB BASED TV TUNER with an available coaxial cable port to plug your cable tv line straight in. This should also include a remote.

My mum has difficulty swallowing the pills or capsules. Are there any other alternatives?

It helps to lubricate the throat first by taking a few sips of water before swallowing pills. Swallow only one at a time. Large tablets may be cut in half, or even smaller, with the aid of an inexpensive pill cutter. As for large gel capsules, such as fish oil, it helps to bite or poke a hole in them before swallowing, to render them softer and more pliable.

I have a samsung hp-t5064 that show grainy picture with scanning horizontal lines. TV repairman came and looked around the back. Opened it up, replaced some boards, don't know which, I was not

You can also check for poor connections on ribbon cables etc.
Socketed Chips etc.
Modern TV's are more "Computer" than old fashioned TV. You could have memory problems, CPU or timing problems. Power supply problems.
Did the problem occur overnight. Like On/Off... or has it gradually gotten worse. All of these things can be clues. Does a slap on the back cause any glitches or changes to picture. If so then it could be an indicator of a physical problem like a poor connection.
Suggest getting a second tech's opinion before any replacement
Good Luck

How can I hook my my sharp LCD TV up with my desktop computer without a monitor to change the settings on my my computer. I have both HDMI cable and VGA cable. When I turn my computer on no picture pops up...

Try to reset your computer BIOS - open your CPU, plug off the power, remove the battery in the motherboard then put it back after 20 seconds.
Plug the VGA cable to your CPU and connect it to your LCD TV. Try ro open your CPU, there should be display on BIOS bootup.
If the display goes out before windows startup, the resolution settings on your computer is not compatible with your LCD TV. If this occurs, hard reset your CPU then press F8 simultaneousely until new display appears, then select safemode. On windows safemode, adjust the resolution settings compatible with your LCD TV.

Pentium D problem

Hi oilian,
Be glad it did shut down. If it didn't, your new CPU could haveover heated. There are a few reasons for a CPU to over heat.
1.) There is no thermal grease or too little on the heat-sink assembly.
2.) The old thermal grease was not removed or the old thermal tape was not removed.
3.) The heat-sink assembly was not cleaned completely with alcohol before applying new thermal grease.
4.) The CPU fan is running too slowly.
5.) The heat-sink fins are possibly filled with dust build-up & the CPU fan can not cool the heat-sink assembly. Boot to the bios & go to Hardware Monitor. There you can check voltage, CPU fan speed, CPU temp & other bios monitored settings.

Good luck oilian!
Mike
