It worked well when I left Florida for Michigan in April. I disconnected the computer, modem, and router when I left and restarted them when I came down a few days ago. Bypassing the router I can connect to internet, but the original connections did not work, reconnecting has not worked.. I only turned off the power when I left, I did not disconnect or reconnect until after turning off the the power to the router for a few minutes with no success and then bypassing the router as suggested by ComCast.

All were green, none were amber, but the one next to "security" was not on. I pushed that button, that light then came on, flashing green (no longer on), and I was on line at last and still am even though that light is no on. Thanks very much. I had gone out and picked up a used linksys that had trouble with the IP address. Glad this works. Thanks again.

CNet wireless router Model CWR-854V. is causing my Ethernet lite on my DSL modem to blink causing me not to be able to get on internet. Changed all cables no help disconnected Router and modem works...

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the DSL modem, bypassing the router, turn the modem off, turn the modem on, wait 60 seconds, and restart your computer.

Does the Ethernet lamp still blink when Windows is booting, and when you are using the Internet?

Turn the DSL modem off.
Turn the router off.
Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem, and connect it from the computer to the router.
Turn the router on, and wait 60 seconds, then turn your computer on.
After Windows is running, click Start.
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: default gateway........ 192.168.123.456
If the string starts with '192.168', then your computer *IS* "talking" to the router.
Now, use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port on the router to the DSL modem.
Turn the modem on.
Turn the router off.
Turn the router on.
Wait 60 seconds.
Restart your computer, and you should be able to web-surf.

Need help, router will not connect. The internet service road runner is working when I plug directly in computer but through the router it won't activate. This router has been working for over a year now...

Try unplugging the power from Road Runner modem and disconnect the computer or router. Then only plug in the power to the router and plug in the power to the modem.

If this does not work, try resetting the modem's config to factory defaults by sticking a paperclip end into the reset button hole in the back while powering it up. hold the buttin in for atleast 15 seconds while the router restarts. then retry the first suggestion.

Belkin router can't connect to internet

This is part solution, part clarification request: When you say that you installed the setup software on your laptop, setup software for which: the modem, or the belkin router? Also what type of internet service do you have - Cable? DSL? If you are not sure, list your ISP. What operating systems do you have on your laptop and your main computer?

You say that you connected the modem to your main computer - I am assuming that you mean that you connected your modem with a network or ethernet cable (the one with a connector that looks similar to but larger than a telephone's connector) to your computer's ethernet card, or NIC, port. Is anything connected by ethernet cable to the Belkin router? If you have not connected the modem directly to the router, it will not connect to the internet, and anything connecting to the Belkin router will not be able to access the internet as well.

Try this: disconnected the power from your modem, then disconnect power from your router, and disconnect any ethernet cables from computer & modem, or computer and router. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the Belkin Router. (Ensure that you have plugged in the ethernet cable on the router into a port that is either set aside from others, or indicates "Internet", WAN, or something similar - it should be marked either with a different color, labled, or both). Now power on your modem. Wait until you see a steady "ready" light, green ethernet light, or the light usually lit for that model indicating it has completed its bootup tests and the internet connection is ready.
Next, ensure the ethernet cable is connected from the modem to correct WAN or "internet" port on the Belkin Router, then power up the router. Once the router boots up completely, plug in a cable from your computer's (main computer) NIC or ethernet card or port, to a port on the Belkin Router (there should be more than one port available, generally numbered "1, 2, 3" and so on - in a group, seperate from the WAN or internet port). Once you are sure you have the cable plugged into one of the correct ports, and if you have windows, restart your main computer.

Now on your main computer, check to see if you have an internet connection. If you do, you can now resume running the router's software setup on your laptop, which sounds as though it was walking you thru the setup process to connect you via wireless connection to the internet. Report back if you have any success, or if you have any further problems, and best of luck! Hope that info helps

Internet always disconnect

Is it disconnecting through the router or modem?
If it getting disconnected through the modem, then first check whether it disconnects through the modem.
connect the computer directly to the modem and check whether it works properly or not?
If it is working properly through the modem then there must be a problem with the router.
try to upgrade the firmware of the router.

Speedstream modem went out so I had to completely disconnect the router and re-establish the DSL connection... finally got it reset and internet worked fine on PC. I hooked the Belkin wireless router back...

Have you tried powering all three off, restart the modem, wait until it is fully up, restart the router, wait until it is fully up and then restart the computer? Sounds like the IP address's are not coming up correctly. As far as the reconfigure problem, the support guy couldnt help you with that?

I lost wireless internet when i connect internet from my modem to computer it works but the router shows no internet the computer picks up the router and the computer says it is connected wirless but not

Did you at one time have internet? Another thing that it could be is that your modem is going out. I would test the modem and see if it works, then connect to then try connecting it back to the router and restarting both your modem and router. And finally it may be actually be disconnected in the setup so look at your setup on the setup screen by opening internet explorer and typing 192.168.1.1 then configure your router's connection one more time.

Have you restarted the devices in order?
  1. Unplug the Ethernet cables from modem to router and router to computer.
  2. Restart the modem and wait until all lights are on
  3. Restart the router and wait until all lights are on
  4. Plug in an Ethernet cable from modem (first) to router (WAN or Internet port, second).
  5. Plug in an Ethernet cable from the router (first, LAN port) to your computer (second).
  6. Check the settings of the router - Make sure it is set to DHCP.

Reset the modem while the router is plugged into it. Do this by disconnecting the power to the modem and then reconnecting.
