DEPENDS ON WHAT IS GOING ON WITH UNIT.... IS THERE FROST BUILD UP in the back of freezer section if so then you know the compressor is working most likely could be a defrost issue and these are relative inexpensive to repair.... if the unit is not cooling at all and you have no frost build up is the unit clicking from the rear of unit ...could be a start relay on the compressor that has failed.... some of these units also have control boards on them that start the unit and stop the cycle just depends on whats going on .... i know my company only charges 65.00 to come out and tell you whats wrong...may be worth calling a appliance person could save you from buying a new one.... give me a vote ..... texas based heating /.air /and appliance repair company

My kenmore refridgerator does not defrost it has ice all the time.

NO DEFROSTING,,GET MULTIMETER ,LOOK IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT REMOVE THE EVAPORATOR COVER THEN CHECK IF HEATER TERMINAL ARE PROPERLY CONECTED ,CHECK IF THE B-METAL AND HEATER FOR CONTINUITY ,IF NO CONTINUIRY ON B-METAL IS BAD ..THIS 2COMPONENTS ARE OK,PROBABLY YOU HAVE A BED MECHANICAL TIMER OR DEFROST ADAPTER BOARD. A REFRIGERATOR DOES 2DEFROST CYCLES IN 12HRS SYSTEM STOP FOR ABOUT 30MIN IF YOU REFIRG NEVER STOP YOU HAVE A TIMER PROBLEM..

well to be honest its a "no, no" a 10 year old unit is not very good and is costly to run to fix it would cost half the price of a new one, and by now you must have had your money's worth out of it, so its best all round to buy a new one to fix your unit it would need a new compresser a re,gas and maybe a thermostat as well, ,,see what i saying,,,lots of money for an old unit

It sounds like the circulating fan is either wearing out or has worn out. This fan supplies circulation for the freezer as well as the refrigerator. When it doesn't work there is no circulation of air to cool the refrigerator nor freeze the freezer compartment. The minimum cost to repair/replace the unit cost around $300.00

Kenmore refrigerator not working

Hi!!! Go to the back of the frig and see if the compressor and condensor fan motor are working.If not then you have a bad current relay.easy fix.its located in the compressor where the wires go into..Good luck.Heres a picture of your current relay..

Make sure the coils underneath and backside don't have large amounts of dirt on them. Check door seals with a dollar bill, go around the entire door. close the bill inbetween the seals and tug on the bill, if it pulls out to easy the door needs adjusting or seals need replaced. let us know what you found thanks
