I have owned a AMC5101AAW for about three and a half years. It has been a good microwave, perfect for my needs. The display went black and the buttons didn't work right after I boiled a cup of water for tea this morning. An hour later the display window showed a 8888 indicating the power was on. I set the clock and put a cup of water in the oven. As soon as I pressed the start key the power went off again. Also when I shut or open the door the power may or may not go on but although the clock and input buttons appear to work each time the display lights up everything stops when I push the start button. I tried this a few times. Also I don't know if this could have contributed to the problem but the oven overheated while I cooked a casserole a few months ago. I don't remember the timing exactly but it needed more than 12 minutes of cooking time. It stopped working just like today but started working a few hours later and has been ok until today. My question: Is this worth fixing? I'm thinking I might be a power supply or maybe a card has burnt out. I don't know what it cost to have a microwave fixed but if it's close to the price of a new one it is probably not worth it. Thank you in advance for your help.

It sounds like it could be just a bad crimp connector supplying power to the whole system, which would have to be the fuse holder on the mains input panel.

The display on our Sharp Microwave oven went very dim. Everything else on it is still functioning perfectly. Will replacing part FPNLCB666WRKZ fix it? Is this something we can safely do ourselves?

not familiar with that exact model .if the display went gradually dim and has a green vacuum florescent display ,these suffer 3 problems ,worn out display ;glass on display and filter window dirty ;and failed capacitors, suggest before replacing module ,unplug and put plug iside door ,then safely remove the back then take photo of display panel wireing then remove it clean inside the plastic eindow of display and display tube glass window .visual look at pcb you will see several round blue capacitors .note the values and voltage of these i.e 470u/25v. go to maplin and obtain replacements ,yhen get a friend who can solder to replace them all making sure to mark pcb with black marker ajacent black negative line on capacitors to ensure correct polarity then refit pannel and test .if no improcement replace complete panell

MW8115SS worked perfectly and then went dead

Blown fuse , take the outer cover off and change the fuse. Iff you don't have a fuse use a piece of tin foil until you find a replacement fuse.
Hopefully this helps you out.

Our microwave went dead. It's only three years old. My husband put some chicken wings in, closed the door, and everything went black. We plugged in a nightlight in the power source and it worked. Any ideas...

a few possible causes,
1, the high voltage fuse,
2, the high voltage capacitor
3, the slow blow fuse ( normally found on a small pcb inside unit)

other than that, check the door switches and maybe the x former.
good luck.

My display reads -SE-

-SE- error means you have a shorted keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Sharp R510AK Carousel Microwave

Very common problem with the display. It may or may not eventually light back up on it's own.

I would suggest contacting www.microwavedisplay.com. Lots of info and the best deal going for repairing the display.
