I bought my emerson microwave 3 years ago model# mw8115ss from walmart and have had all the problems that everyone has talked about and I thought about throwing it away until I thought about one small detail, the FUSE. China uses junky glass fuses that burst instantly with a slight power outage, door slamming to hard, moving it around, and of course constant use like myself always heating up water for bottles. I took the back of the microwave off and walla!!! a blown fuse, but wait!!! dont buy another glass fuse!!! go to your local home depot and get the ceramic fuse for microwave ovens!!! they are $2.83 at my local home depot. I replaced the junky glass fuse with the ceramic one and it has worked perfectly for six months now.
DONT let someone tell you that you cant replace a glass fuse with a ceramic one because they are full of boloney. My microwave did all kinds of things, it wouldnt turn sometimes, it would come on by itself, it would beep for no reason, turn but not heat up, you name it I had the problem. When a fuse starts to go out it can make your appliances do some strange things, check the fuse and replace it with a CERAMIC one and I promise it should eliminate your problem.
How many amps does a microwave pull
Depends on the make and model but they are required to post that information on a label on the unit. It may be on the back or the bottom. IF the label is missing, it is probably pulling around 15 AMPS

Replacement trays cost around $30.00. The cheapest I found was on Ebay for $28.00. By the time you pay for shipping you can almost buy a new appliance. Also take care that you find one for your model, you can't always tell by looking if it is going to fit.Try your local Goodwill or other thrift store for a used one.Good luck
Microwave turns on and counts down but won't heat up/cook
Ok just figured this out! It is a problem with the alignment on the lower door switch. I took the cabinet off and lifted up on the door switch slightly and voila! It works. You could probably fix this without taking it apart, just lift up on the door ever so slightly. I hope this works for you.

Metallic-like cardboard insert inside microwave is crumbling???
That piece is called the waveguide cover. Emerson calls it a spatter shield. Behind it is the hole where the microwaves enter the oven. Its job is to prevent food spatters from getting into the microwave source, and it's not a good idea to run the oven without it.
The cover is usually held in place by a plastic rivet that pulls out. I couldn't find the part number for the cover used in your model. But here is a link to a parts place that has several covers available:

If one of the covers shown looks like yours you can order it. Another possibility is to contact Emerson at 800-695-0098. This is the number they give to locate authorized servicers near you, and you might be able to order a replacement cover through them.

I think the fuse is blown on my emerson microwave
You have blown the microwave internal fuse. If you are handy enough you can take the cover off and follow the power cord in the system. The fuse will be between the transformer and the power cordYOU MUST DISCONNECT POWER CORD AS PART OF ELECTRICAL SAFETY WHILE WORKINGON ON THE SYSTEM!!
No Light and the turntable is not working
Open your microwave completely unscrewed but make sure it is disconnected from the power; check all the other fuses inside, if it doesn't fix the issue then take it to a pro to get this fix.
