As a work-around, you should try using Picasa to download the pictures off of your camera.

Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.

  • Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
  • Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
  • Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
  • Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
  • You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for using FixYa and Happy New Year!

SOURCE: Trying to get pictures off of my camera w/ a USB cord

You will need software for the camera to be installed on the computer first. You should be able to find it by going to the manufacturer's website, where they will be able for download.

If you have difficulty finding it, please reply with make and model of camera, and your operating system details.

Cheers!

SOURCE: I cant upload my pictures

Not exactly a solution, but an explanation.
My mother has the same problem, so I took a look at her camera, and found this.

If you check the hole in the camera where you plug the usb chord in, you may notice the plastic piece in there may be bent or broken.
Id imagine repairing the camera would require some technical knowhow, because you would probably have to replace the part entirely.
Its just a case of the company using cheap plastic to build a camera that is supposed to have durability.

SOURCE: I have a canon A590 is camera. When I try to

Your USB cable is fine, I use a generic cable with my A590 with no problems. Connect the USB cable to the camera then your computer, make sure that the camera is set to the view setting instead of picture taking setting and then turn your camera an. Your computer should then see the camera. This is the only combination that works with my camera.

Best regards,
Bob

Why won't mu usb cord work for downloading pictures

Here is one possible solution. Some devices require that you use the USB cable that came with the device. Other USB cords won't work. This happened on a Nexus tablet I bought recently. When I tried to charge it with another USB cord, nothing happened. I had to use the exact USB cord that came with the tablet, even though both cords looked identical.

I have a samsung digital camera and i just got a new usb cord , and when i insert the cord into the computer nothing happens.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Dowloading pictures

Camera's usually come with cords that attach the camera to the computer usb. The other way is to buy a card reader that would attach to your computer via a USB port.

How can i upload pictures from my nikon coolpix camera to my computer. I have the usb cord and nothing pops up on the computer, when i connect it

Hi Steel,

Open Windows Explorer and click on My Computer so it displays the drives.

When you attach your camera to the USB cable, the computer should interpret it as another hard drive being attached.

If it doesn't pop up immediately, click on View, then click refresh. It should show up then.

Best regards,
Mike

Nikon coolpix s210 will not connect to mac

I have a Intel Mac Powerbook running OS10.5.8
On a coolpix 100, the default setting is that the camera is charged by the computer through the USB cable. You need switch that OFF.
While the camera still does not show as usb device, you can access it through the Nikon transfer program AND through iPhoto

Take your sd memory card out of your camera, and put it in your computer. A file with your pictures should appear. Copy thoes pictures into a different fold on you computer. Take you sd memory card out of your computer and plug it back into your camera. Your pictures will be both on your camera and on your computer.
