Hello, Welcome to FixYa. There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch, but based on your post it is indeed most likely the emergency shut off/belt switch. It is located by the motor as you said and in the event of too heavy a load or a broken belt it shuts the unit down & prevents any restart...until it is repaired or reset. (also can be tripped during reassembly by the drum shifting) **Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first** This will require you to remove the back panel again. Once you've removed the rear panel, It is located next to the belt pulley and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back ) Let me know if you require further assistance to do this. Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear. I'm presently on my iphone, but I can post more info with pictures to guide you if necessary...but please let me know. Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

I'm getting an E65 code on my frigidaire affinity dryer. We've replaced the heating element and the fuse. It's still happening. It's been thoroughly cleaned out. What is my next step?

This indicates it is the High Limit Thermostat, which isn't a fuse. Most dryers have three heat related components. They usually trip because of bad airflow, check the hose at the back and the vent in the wall. This is the time that birds make nests in them! Also wash the lint filter with dish soap and a brush. Part No. 33 here
https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/55b2zm5szl-001428/frigidaire-fase7073lw0-dryer-parts

The error code of E65 is a high limit thermostat trip . For Electric Model, check Inlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. If Thermal Limiter is open, check for evidence of high temperature event and any resulting damage. If no further damage is evident, replace Thermal Limiter.

Why does the high limit switch keep tripping

You don't have specifics on the Dryer model. High limit is likely for a temperature being too high, which can lead to damage to the dryer or your clothes, or even to fire.

First and foremost, do NOT work on anything outside of the control panel or drum interior without unplugging the dryer. It almost certainly has a high current, 3-phase power inlet, and you can kill yourself coming into contact with the live power for it. Don't do that!

Most straightforward - look at the vent line. If it's clogged with lint, clean it out, both at the dryer end, and, if possible, for the rest of the line. You'll likely need a flat blade screwdriver to disconnect the vent hose on both the dryer and wall side. Take the vent line outside stretch it out, bang or hand-remove any lint sticking to it. (Stretching will help a lot in getting lint out of squeeze spots in the line.) Wear a dust mask to save yourself a lot of coughing when cleaning stuff.

if the vent is run under your house, go to the outside vent outlet and make sure it's not blocked or clogged.

Complementary to the vent line, clean out any tangible lint in the outlet hole area in the back of the dryer.

Past that point, my experience on the overheat goes a couple of places, all of which involve opening up the back. I'd suggest finding a DIY for your model to cut down on searching for screws. You'll likely have a bunch of 1/4" hex-head screws, which fortunately are the size of just about every hex-bit screwdriver set ever made - just put the hex end of the screwdriver on the head and it'll likely fit.

Inside, you'll open up the top of the blower unit. You will likely find it's clogged with lint, making the air pull anemic. Clean all the lint out of here. There are temperature sensors / cutouts. You'll need a DIY to locate which is which, and likely a voltmeter to test them. Last up-top possibility. Look inside the heater unit. It'll likely be a flat sheet-metal assembly on the right. If it's a gas unit, I'm out of my experience. If it's an electric unit, the heater coils are inside. They are likely covered in lint and laundry room dust. Use a long bottle brush to brush them off, or blow them off with compressed air. (Dust maskt!) A vacuum cleaner crevice tool can be useful. If they're covered in dust, they don't transfer heat to the air well, and can just overheat when the passing air doesn't carry the heat away.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Dryer model DBSR453EB1WW won't start. It has power and the light comes on when the door is opened, but when you try to start it there is nothing.

8_29_2011_7_53_41_pm.jpgYou might have a tripped high limit. Looks like this.
Mounts on rear wall atop the heater element. If the dryer needs cleaning it someimes will overheat and trip this limit. I recently repaired one of these and made some PHOTOS

I am adding some pictures to help with the resetting of the thermostat. It is actually much easier if you pop open the top and remove three screws on the top side of the left panel in addition to the three in the back. That way you get more room to work with.

Hope it helps.

Dryer not starting, when I press the start/stop button the drying light illuminates but dryer doesn't start. Have taken back off and pressed the re-start button but is it supposed to stay depressed? I...

Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch, one you mentioned and no it doesn't depress in, it just resets it...but with the most common there are two thermostat's/switches
which could be reset, ( plus a no reset hi-limit on the lint housing not so common )... i.e.
macmarkus_15.jpg ...which cannot be reset, but the hi-limit is the one related to heating you rest already...located on the heater housing and the other (emergency shut off/belt switch) is by the motor shown below.
Anyway,

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor I alluded to which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped for whatever reason.
This is the most likely scenario in my opinion based on your post...but again it depends on your model.
This will require you to remove the back panel again though. Once you've remove the rear panel, It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back )...

i.e.

macmarkus_14.jpg
Since you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off before to gain access you should have no problem.

Either Scenario I alluded to will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.

The other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out, You can see through the back vent opening when the vent tube is removed ( cannot be removed without removing rear panel the first time, but if attached a certain way can be done each time after ) and then by pushing the red button in...shown below.

i.e.

Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear or if your model is completely different...some have line fuses at the back.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

What would make the high limit switch on my kenmore electric dryer be open twice

Lint build up inside the machine, or a clogged dryer vent duct. if it is the resettable type, disconnect your dryer vent, reset the limit switch, and try to run it. if it works with the ducting disconnected, clean your ducting, and make sure the flapper door on the outside of your house is working. If the limit trips even with the duct disconnected, make sure the air path and fan are clean and free of lint. sometimes lint will build up on the heater element and catch on fire near the limit switch. the heater banks are available as a complete assembly, with a new element and all limit switches and thermostats. they run about 75 dollars.

The dryer starts but immediately stops

Hello and welcome to Fixya. To address your question regarding the "reset", the manual reset hi-limit cut-out at the back of the dryer. It`s located on the back panel about 1/2 to 3/4 the way down and will look like a small round black rubber button. Push it to see if it "clicks" and then try your dryer. **What to look for if it`s tripped... 1) Plugged venting - make sure your venting is clean and clear of lint or un-obstructed where it exhaust`s outdoors. ( I realize you mentioned this, but check it thoroughly ). 2) Plugged lint screen - ( part # 8061812 ) This is especially relevant if one uses fabric/static sheets as they contain wax...especially lesser name brand sheets. You can clean the lint screen by removing it from the door and with some mild soap and hot/warm water wash it...an old toothbrush works well for cleaning it. Careful not to rip the fine screen. 3) The blower wheel/fan impeller ( part # 8055200 ) attached to the front of the motor which moves the air through and over the clothes in the drum may be loose, broken or covered in lint, hence causing the hi-limit to trip. 4) A faulty heating element ( part # 8063808 ) can also cause the hi-limit to trip as well. If the element is shorted to the casing it will not cycle "off" via the 115°C (part # 8008807 ) cycling thermostat, thus cycling off via the hi-limit 150°C ( part # 8008487 ). Let me know how that works or if you`ve already tried that. If it is tripped, resetting it may only temporarily resolve your problem since it is usually tripped due to venting or heater issues. If it is not tripped let me know and we can explore other possibilities. good luck. macmarkus :)

My dryer will turn off after a about 10 minutes and then need about 2 minutes to cool down before it will start again. When I push the start button before the 2 min are over the machine will not start. Any...

Sounds like the high limit switch. It is a small round disk shaped part at the top of the heater coil box. If the temperature gets too high then it trips this, after it cools off it resets itself. So either the limit switch is going bad and tripping early and coming back on late. Or the dryer is overheating, maybe the vent stopped up with lint?
