50" Pioneer TV blacks out and has shadow on the bottom third

We have a 50" Pioneer TV that is 14 years old. About 3 months ago, it started going black for a few seconds then it comes back on. The length of time has increased, but it still comes back on after about 20-25 seconds.

About 2 weeks ago we started seeing a red/blue arched shadow on the bottom third of the screen. It seems to be permanent.

Do you think this is worth fixing?

Yes it is worth fixing.if you r getting it repaired for the first time.
but you will have to wait for some long time to get it repaired as the tv is very old its very difficult to get the parts for reparing it.

the problem what you r facing is the problem of the convergence in your main board of the tv.
it has to be repaired.
i will advise you to get it repaired as it will work.

for doing it your self you can try clicking this link and following the given instructions in it

thanks.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use

I also have the same problem I phoned Samsung today to explain the tv was only 14 months old, they didn't wanna no because it was out of warrenty by 2 months. I am getting a black solid line down the left hand side of the screen. I ended up phoning Dixons were we bought it from, they have told me to get an independent engineers report done & send the report to them within 14 days. Dixon told me it was a known problem with Samsungs. They said they will fix it free of charge if they can if not they will send vouchers to the same value of the television. So beware stay clear of Samsungs.

NO VIDEO

I have a Samsung 50" plasma, that has been blacking out over the last 6 months. A 9/2005 set. Now its practically unwatchable as it happens 3 times in an hour. Its not heat related - I have a high volume 9" fan activated on TV power on. Turning the set offf/on usually makes it come back for a now short while. Considering to go put it in the back of my pickup and park it in front of Best Buy and discourage Samsung purchases. This is the 2nd Samsung TV I've purchased (the other a 32" tube) I gave to my folks a couple years ago and its gone bad as well. Samsung product may look good, but their video engineers are not.
