Dark shadow like mark on screen

We have an LCD TV (model 32PF5531D/10) its about 2 years old now but about 6 months ago it got a dark shadow like mark on the screen. It is now covering about 3/4 of the screen and is very annoying when watching the TV. The longer the TV is on and gets warmer the worse the picture gets. We have never over wetted the screen or used chemicals on it (to the best of my knowledge. Any help would be gratefully received.

Same problem here. We paid $1,600 for this Sharp Aquos and within 15 months, we started getting the dark streaks in the top left corner, then in the bottom right corner, and now a big dark shadow right in the center of the picture with more streaks under it. Very annoying. Needless to say, we won't be buying a Sharp again.

We have a Vizio about the same age (two years). There is a large shadow running vertically and seems to be getting darker. Anyone out there with any advice?

I have a Sylvania model LC320ss8 32" LCD TV that has some dark shadows on it. My wife only uses a soft cotton cloth slightly damp to clean it. The unit is only 1 year old. The dark spots don't seem to show up when the picture is very bright, like a picture of the sky. However, when the picture is darker, like you are in the police station on Law & Order, that's when the dark shadows show up. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

same on a 26 inch philips lcd, almost 2 years old, worse when warm, (not visible at all when cold started). had a 23 inch philips, it went the same way, under warranty at around 18 months. It was a write off. Current tv in for "repair" at moment, will update when or if i ever see it again! Get a 5 year warranty with lcd or plasma,it's worth it.......

Same thing on my 37" Westinghouse. I thought it was screen burn-in (or image retention) but it didn't go away with a white screen running everynight for a week. However, the shadow is 99% unnoticeable with a white screen on. Darker, solid-colored backgrounds look terrible. And now it seems to gradually be getting worse.

I've read that this may be due to a sub-standard filming used on the outside of the screen. Although I think if that were the case here, it would still be visible with a white screen on.

Any experts out there that have seen this before? It's too bad my $1200 TV (at the time) is already shot.

This is what happens when you don't buy a name brand. I got an LG and it's got some staining but I bought it in 08-09. About time for new one but TV is still usable.

The drak Shadow mark I see on my Screen looks like the black soot like marks you see at the end of a flourescent tube. I think it is the back light.

Try to "whitewash" your screen. it's taking it back to the old settings by running it on the black/white alternating pattern on each pixel. "whitewash" it for one hour and then power the television down for 1 hour to allow everything to cool. restart and see if the shadows have disappeared.

This could be caused by the invertor or the backlight. I have the same problem and thats what I have been advised is causing it. I need to source a new backlight to try it out.

Dark shadow-like vertical streaks thru LCD screen (Sharp)

Hi, I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD Projection TV that has a blotted gray streak across the front of the screen. I only use a damp cloth to clean the window and that doesn't seem to help. It really shows up on light pictures and is unnoticed when the picture is a little darker. What can I do to fix this problem???

DARK SHADOW EFFECT UPPER CORNERS OF SCREEN

I would check for dust particles before I attempted any type of repair on the unit.

Dust particles will appear as dark spots that are larger than the size of an individual pixel. It must first be determined if the particle(s) are on the LCD panels or the screen.

TV issue

There are many causes for spots on top of an LCD rear projection tv, you are probably in the first two cases, both require part replacements and repair job.

If the spots are faint blue, green or pink shadows, then it can be a problem with the anti polarization panel placed on top of the LCD.

Similar spots (colored shadows) may be caused by a problem with the light engine, in that case the fix will be expensive.

If the spots are bright lights, like an aura, that is a problem with the color wheel.

Problems on the light tunnel can cause static gray shadows.

If the spots are static dark stains than that is lcd liquid, the LCD panel must be replaced.
