Recently I've noticed there is not enough green in the picture unless you manually pump up the green tint. Then things that are green look green, but so does everything else that is not suppose to be green.

There are more settings if you get into the advanced menu to correct this but its not somewhere you want to be unless you're familiar with things in there, one wrong move and the TV could need to go to the recycling center.
YOU ARE 100% CORRECT it is the cameras ....... as a tv camera wears out green is the last to get weak . so the picture turns green crt tvs do the same thing
When ever a tube starts to short or is shorted set always will have over bearing drive lines then shut down like RED if it was bad, set would come on long enough for red lines across set then shut down this is the same with all 3 tubes. Also if you think it might be green tube disconnected green CRT board on neck of green tube if set comes on and plays then it is green tube do all 3 tube this way one at a time this will tell you if you have other problems.
I have the same problem here on this Samsung 40" LCD. its a 2007 model. everything was fine until recently. I had to reset my digital cable box. now the picture has the green tint. its ruined what was a nice tv, and it won't go away.
This is most likely a defect in the optical unit (about $1500.00 part). If out of warranty probably will just have to live with it. Those op units are also hard to get.
There's a known issue with this set due to defective rgb tubes... See this forum: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/display-devices-tvs-projectors/105633-50-000-sony- hdtvs-may-recalled.html
Is it a reddish tint or the picture is just red? Did it just happened, or you are just noticing a gradual change?
Reddish tint: Blue and/or green CRTs are getting weaker. More likely the green CRT. Unplug the unit and somehow remove the back cover, etc. to get a direct view of the CRTs. Use a flashlight to inspect each CRT through its lens. CRTs with excessive wear will show a definite "burn" mark where the picture forms. Compare the center CRT (green) with the other ones. Normal wear in all three tubes is expected. What is important is to notice the difference. A significant wear in one means it has to be replaced, but usually all three have to be replaced in order to get the right purity. This is a major overhaul, and unless the TV has a sentimental value, it's not worth it.
Picture just red: Green and blue CRTs not firing. This is easily observed by running the TV with the back cover removed. Probably a loose connection, but you will need the manual to trace it. You could gently tap the chassis while the TV is running and see if this restores the blue and green CRTs.
