I have 2 laptops one is a F700 Preserio (Compaq) and one is a CQ60-615DX Notebook (Compaq) can I purchase a recovery disc for the CQ60-615DX Notebook and use it to reboot my F700 Preserio laptop.

You don't. You should have created a recovery disc thru the control panel before you formatted the hard drive. Now you will have to purchase and reload the windows operating system.

You will need to buy a recovery disc from compaq, contact customer support and technical department they may be able to sell you one at reduced cost. If that is not possible you will need to purchase a copy of windows, "not cheap" try www.ebay.com Type make and model you might find a seller that might have what you are looking for at a good price.

To restore your Compaq Presario PC f700: Turn the computer on, then while restarting, Press and hold the F11 key. Under HP Recovery Manager, select the option to perform a system recovery. ***Note*** Doing this will delete everything that are save in your computer. Back up your files before doing this.

The issue here to be quite frank is the hard drive needs the compaq image before the recovery disk can be loaded. This provents people from taking there compaq disk and getting wise and installing it on multiable computers what authors call piracy.

What you need to do is have compaq NOW HP send you out a IMAGE recovery disc usually when a hard drive crashes they send you out the hard drive with the IMAGE.

The other solution is purchasing windows 7 upgrade and going at it from there.

seems that same System Files have been damaged. Try starting in Safe Mode or use the Recovery Console from the windows disk to repair the OS.
