You need to make sure it is getting a nice strong spark. The electronic solid state ignition control module (coil) controls this and the contact legs on it have to be gapped about .010-.012" from the magnets on the flywheel. This goes on under the front engine cover. First, check for a nice blue spark. If it is weak or yellow, the coil needs adjustment. They fail rarely. A standard business card is about the proper thickness to produce the "air-gap" needed to create a a good spark.Also, make sure the plug has the correct gap on it.
If you have to check the coil, the front engine cover will have to be removed and moved forward to access it.Underneath the cover is the starter/recoil unit and under that is the flywheel and the coil. The coil will be attatched to the engine cylinder with a couple Torx screws about size T-15 or T-20.
