You need to make sure it is getting a nice strong spark. The electronic solid state ignition control module (coil) controls this and the contact legs on it have to be gapped about .010-.012" from the magnets on the flywheel. This goes on under the front engine cover. First, check for a nice blue spark. If it is weak or yellow, the coil needs adjustment. They fail rarely. A standard business card is about the proper thickness to produce the "air-gap" needed to create a a good spark. Also, make sure the plug has the correct gap on it.
If you have to check the coil, the front engine cover will have to be removed and moved forward to access it.Underneath the cover is the starter/recoil unit and under that is the flywheel and the coil. The coil will be attatched to the engine cylinder with a couple Torx screws about size T-15 or T-20.

How do I start a hard to start FS55R weed trimmer?

Start with fresh fuel, fuel filter and spark plug. Then adjust your carb low and high to 1 full turn out on each. Start and see if it stumbles on acceleration, if it does turn the low side out a 1/4 turn. This will get you going in the right direction. There are several other things that could be wrong, but this is the simple start.

Fuel system diagram

ever give it a tuneup this decade or last 60k miles.????????????

get the FSM. buy one , used.on fleabay, and be ready next time.

or

go to alldata.com login and read it.

also at mitchels.

what engine size.

is car a CARB. (yes)

on all cars, carb or EFI , starting is same (basics)

example. (classical)

does it crank robustly, yes,

Does engine have 150PSI WOT compression, times 4. (yes)

does it have, spark on all 4 cylinders and is it timed right. (strobe it for time to spec)

answer, yes, (examples) and is timed right.

now we land on fueling

in this case its a carb.

the first test is , is the fuel at the top mark for for float level.

yes, good, no , pump bad. or filter clogged.

ok next.

is the choke on,, but not 100% if 100 % it floods,

is it ok? the choke plate.?

yes.

ok i got every thing it takes to start and its not flooding.

so what is wrong, easy, the carb is TOAST , get a new one.

oops, nobody sells them. its too old a car. in most cases.

but in my cause, i rebuild them.

i restore old cars and motorcycles, (stock)

so can do it. some take 3 used junk carbs to get one working.

and a kit. i find the carb kit first.

then boil it out (Berrymens) then kit it and tune it like the FSM directs.

there did it all end to end.

most 28yo carbs are useless and long gone.

(cept after im done)

i put in butterfly shaft bushing, and kit them.

if they are corroded to dust the hit the trash.

Klx250 wont run it has spark new battery and cleaned carby but wont fire up will occasionaly start and run fine

Remove the filter or filter connection to the back side of the carb and spray it with starter fluid. If it starts when you do that each time, the carbs still have a problem and need to be cleaned out again or adjusted correctly.

Problem start bike. Push a starter and only clik , bike wont start. Suzuki 250gc 2004

Sounds like a bad battery. Try charging overnight with a 1 or 2 amp charger.
If this doesn't help then go to the dealer and ask for the stock plugs for your bike. Check for spark on each of the new plugs then install the plugs.

Remove the carbs , dissemble it and clean the varnish out. Remove the petcock, ( gas valve ),water trap and clean it out. Next let one cup of gas flow into a container. Any water or rust in the bottom of the container? If any rust was in the water trap or the container then purchase an inline fuel filter to eliminate the rust getting into the carb.

If cleaning the carb yourself does not do the trick then take it to the dealer and have them clean it and install a carb kit. This should eliminate the carb as a problem. Get a new air filter and install it.

Now you have spark, gas and air. If it still will not start it is likely that you need new crank seals. On a bike that old you may well need new crank bearings as well.
