My HP Compaq mini 110 has a half striped screen...Everything works except for the fact that the screen is half white and a little black...I had recently dropped my computer from a couple inches off the floor. Any advice?

Is the screen connected to 1 a power cord 2 the computer and 3 is the screen turned on?

Sounds like the operating system is not loading. needs to be reinstalled.

Remove the cmos battery for 5 - 10 minutes. That will reset all data in the bios.

Can u change the screen from 16:9 ratio to 4:3 or regular if it's available in the menu? Black bar at top and bottom generally signifies widescreen...16:9

Sounds like the display panel needs to be replaced.

Again install the operating system

The HP minis, have a hidden parttion where they store the RESTORE tools.
Try to start it in SAFE MODE and see if you can run the tool from there.
Also, see if at start up (black screen with white letters) there is a message to press a special Function key (F1, or F10, or another) to start the RESTORE process.

A white LCD screen can be caused by (likeliness):

1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen.
2. Defective LCD screen.
3. Defective motherboard.

A local computer repair store should be able to fix this for you.

Yeah, I have this exact same problem, except my mom slammed my laptop shut in frustration around half an hour ago, so that's why it's like this. The right half of my screen is black with two colorful stripes (mostly white), but the left half is visible. I've researched a bit and found out that this is because the LCD in your monitor has burnt out, and since you don't have a monitor to attach, the only thing you can do is to go to where you bought the laptop and either get it fixed for free or return it for a brand new one (if your warranty still stands). If not, you might as well get a new laptop. I think my warranty has expired, so I'll get a new laptop, hopefully.
