Try to use various other lower settings, depending what type of monitor you have 1280x1024 may not be the right choice. for example a wide screen will need fewer vertical pixels

hope I was able to help

Stretched screen

For best graphics and zero stretch select the highest resolution that your LCD supports. Which is the resolution of 1440X900

Right click on your desktop and select properties.
Click the Settings tab.
Slide the resolution Bar to the resolution of 1440X900
Also select (Highest 32Bit) colour quality on the right of the resolution bar.
Click Apply then Ok.

If you are not able to select the resolution of 1440X900 then you should update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.

To download the latest drivers for your graphics card click here.
Select the following:
Geforce
Geforce 5 FX Series
Geforce FX 5500
Select your operating System
Select your prefered language

My nvidia graphics gets heated very soon...while running crysis games..is it normal?

Hi complicatedt,

Yes, it is normal, that's why graphic cards nowadays has it's own cooling fan.
The heating of the cards also depend on the system requirement of a program or game.

Hope this will help you.

My asrock m266a having problem with the graphic card

Any card with an AGP interface is supported, just that the power of a new video card is severely limited by the capabilities of the motherboard and everything else on it (processor, memory, hard disk).
Ge-force FX5500 256MB is a good card but you can get something a little more powerfull, something like

I cannot play call of duty world at war with my video card fx 5500 256mb

Hi,

As far as i know 1GB graphics card is required for play call of duty. 256 MB is very low video memory to run this game so its not working on your card.

I recommend you that. Please upgrade your graphics Card to Nvidia GE Force 9400 GT 1GB.

Thanks.

Happy to help you.

Have a new 23 inch samsung monitor that requires res 1920x1080

The problem is the cable connection to the video card.
When using the DVI output of the FX 5500, the maximum screen resolution that you can select is 1280 x 1024.

But, if you use the Analog (VGA) output, the card will support resolutions up to 2048 x 1536, which should be ok.

Geforce fx5500

From your post, it seems like Windows is booting correctly, but your card isn't correctly displaying the signal once the machine tries to load into your user profile.

Go into Safe Mode and uninstall the drivers for the card. Go back to the beginning of the installation process and follow it step-by-step. If this does not help, try inserting the card first, and then installing the drivers afterwards.
