20 Most Recent XFX GeForce FX 5500 Graphic Card Questions & Answers

The problem is the cable connection to the video card.
When using the DVI output of the FX 5500, the maximum screen resolution that you can select is 1280 x 1024.

But, if you use the Analog (VGA) output, the card will support resolutions up to 2048 x 1536, which should be ok.

I have this problem before and I tried to spend some time to sort it out but no success, the only way to resolve this is to upgrade (if still applicable) or buy a new computer.

Restart the PC and press F8 (a few times). It will give you a black screen with option to start the PC in safe mode and after starting the PC you should remove the drivers you have just installed. After restart you should be able to boot the PC and reinstall the drivers.

Click here to download the drivers for Nvidia GeForce FX 5500
Select GeForce 5 FX Series , GeForce FX 5500, choose the Operating System and download the required drivers.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!
