Just read your message a second time. Is the sound following the release of the PTT button? If so, it is indeed the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone). If holding in the minus button while turning the radio on does not turn it off, there might be something wrong with the radio, such as a one of the other buttons being slighty stuck. Or you have your keypad locked. To unlock the keypad hold the menu button in for 3 seconds until the lock icon disappears.

Another thing which will make a noise during or after transmitting is the low battery beep. You might check your batteries. Old, bad, poorly charged or defective batteries can cause this.

fyi: Some users might think the Call Tones are the Roger Beep.

Lastly, there is a PTT Timeout beep which will occur if you hold the PTT in for more than 60 sec while talking.

Hope one of these items is of help to you.

How do i turn off the bleep?

There are three functions on that unit that cause some kind of beep.
one in the tone when you first turn telling you it's working.
Then there is the one that cobra refers to as the 'Talk Confirmation Tone' telling the other person it's ok to talk.
The third will only be sent if you do it intentionally, that's the call alert tone.
You have absolutely no way to disable those first two functions as they are hard coded into the handheld memory.
These are made to be ......... proof and are just a marginal step forward in technology from the tin cans and string.

How do I turn the finished washing alarm off?

Hi,

You don't actually turn it off, you simply set the volume to zero. To turn off the cycle completion signal do the following:

1. Press and hold the right "Cancel Drain" button then press and hold the On/Off button
2. When the light above the "Cancel Drain" button you are pressing illuminates and the tone begins to sound, release both buttons
3. Press the "Cancel Drain" button until the tone is either at the desired volume or silent
4. Press the On/Off button again to confirm/set desired volume

Hope this helps.

I have held the - sign and done this several time and the Roger beep is still sounding what next?

The T6500 is slightly different than many of the other TalkAbout radios where the + (plus) button turns the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone) on or off.

T6500 will turn ON the Roger Beep when turning the radio on with the +, but to shut it OFF you must hold in the - (minus) button while turning the radio on.

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf You will find the instructions in detail on page 25.

How do I silence the beeps on this radio

There are two features which cause the radio to make a tone or beep, before or following a transmission: Talk Confirmation Tones (aka Roger Beep) and Call Tones.

On the T6510 radio you would hold in the + (plus) button while turning the radio on, to turn ON the roger beep. To turn it OFF you would hold in the - (minus) button while turning the radio on.

Call Tones are a little more detailed explanation. You can find directions for both in the user guide on page 25: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf

Cant turn off beep on motorola T6500

You may be referring to the Talk Confirmation Tone (Roger Beep). This feature is turned off by holding the minus (-) button while turning the radio on. See page 25 in the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf

Hi there i have a strange icon in one of my radios

The icon you are describing is the "roger beep" icon. It would not be the reason your radio is not transmitting. Most likely your programming has been changed. Here is a link to the manual where you can read how to program the radio's frequency and interference eliminator code. http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T5320_T5410_T5420_User_Manual_E.pdf

Roger Beep/Talk Confirmation Tone
When you turn on this feature, your two-way radio transmits a unique tone when you
finish transmitting. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know you’re
finished talking.
• To enable Roger Beep/Talk Confirmation Tone, press and hold + (plus button) as you turn
your radio On. Now, when you release the PTT button, your set tone lets your
friends know you’re finished talking and will appear on the display.
• To disable the Talk Confirmation Tone feature, turn your radio Off and then back
On while pressing and holding the + (plus) button.

How do you go to silent mode?

There are two different kinds of beeps you can control, the "roger" beep and the "button" beeps. Below is an excerpt from the owners manual explaining the simple procedure.

“Roger” Beeps/Talk Confirmation Tone
When you turn this feature On, your two-way radio transmits a unique tone when
you finish transmitting. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know
you have finished talking. If the person you are talking to does not hear the talk
confirmation tone, you can enable it by pressing and holding + (plus) as you turn On
your radio. Now, whenever you release the PTT, you let your friends know you have
finished talking by transmitting a “Roger” Beep tone. “Roger” Beeps will be
disabled as the Default Setting.
Note: To toggle the Talk Confirmation Tone feature, turn your radio Off and then
back On while pressing and holding + (plus) .

Button Beeps
Every time you press a button on the front of your radio, it beeps unless you turn
Button Beeps Off. To turn Button Beeps Off, turn your radio On while you press - (minus) and
hold . To turn Button Beeps back On, turn the radio Off and then back On again
while you press and hold the - (minus) . On is the Default setting.

Muting the sound

Hi,

The sound produced by a Motorola radio when the mike is keyed refers to the "Transmitting Call Tone" which is another feature other than the "Interference Eliminator" or the "Roger Beep" feature.

On most Motorola GMRS/FRS TalkAbout radios, setting the "Call Tone" to 0 disables the feature. This is done with the radio ON by pressing on the "Menu" button 3 times which will result in the display showing the current Call Tone setting (flashing) and the letters CA; pressing on the <- or +> buttons will change selection (you will also hear the different Tones), select 0 (it may be up to 5 or 10 depending on the version). Press on the "Menu" or "PTT" button to set, save and exit.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
