To clear a memory location, just store 0 in it.
0 [STO] M clears memory M
0 [STO] A clears memory A
0 [STO] B clears memory B
etc.

Formulas entered onto a TI-84 CE Plus calculator. I hit the Clear button and the formulas were deleted. I did not back up the formulas on the computer. Can the formulas be restored to the calculator?

If you accidentally hit the Clear button on your TI-84 CE Plus calculator and your formulas were deleted, there is a chance that they can be restored, depending on how the calculator's memory works. Here are a few options:
  1. Memory Backup: Some TI-84 Plus CE models have a memory backup feature that saves your data even if the battery is removed. If your calculator has this feature, you may be able to restore the formulas by simply replacing the batteries.
  2. Memory Dump: Some calculators have the ability to dump the memory of the calculator onto a computer. You could try searching on the internet for a memory dump for your specific calculator model.
  3. Backup and Restore: If you have a computer with TI-Connect software you can backup and restore the data on your calculator. Make sure your calculator is connected to the computer, open TI-Connect software and select the appropriate options to Backup and Restore the data.
  4. Try a recovery software: There are some data recovery software available for the calculator, however, they might not be able to recover deleted formulas specifically.
It is important to note that these options may not guarantee the recovery of your formulas, but they may be worth trying before giving up. It is also important to make sure you backup your data regularly to prevent losing it again in the future.

Somehow I have pushed a button I wasn't supposed to. When I turn the calculator on there is an 'M' on the screen. I cannot remove it. This makes my totals show up with out the cents column.

There is a couple things we can try, press the clear button on the calculator, failing that! remove the batteries for at least 60 seconds to see if it will clear "M stands for memory" the only other thing you can do is locate the M key, press once engages the memory, press again turns it off on some models.

My ti-84 plus it does not respond to the function + or - OR other function, & it come up to display very slow ,slow. thanks

Hi xvbanh,

You need to free up some memory. Try clearing your RAM. Your calculator should operate properly afterward.

Go to [2nd] [MEM] [7] [1] [2]

If your calculator still won't let you delete the RAM memory try the procedure below.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key. While holding [CLEAR],
reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the
message "RAM Cleared". Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message.

My ti 83 will turn on when i press the clear thing but when i try to put something in nothing happens

Hi imagenius1,

You need to free up some memory. Try clearing your RAM memory. Your calculator should operate properly afterward.

Press [2nd] [MEM] [7] [1] [2]

If the steps above did not reset the memory to your Ti 83 family calculator try the procedures below.

Please be prepared to re-install the calculator's OS if you run through this process.

If you have a straight Ti 83 without the Plus or, Silver Edition label goto (Procedure 2) below. If your Ti calculator is a Ti 83 Plus or better goto (Procedure 1).

(Procedure 1).

  1. Try a new set of AAA batteries.

  2. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key. While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the [CLEAR] key and, then press [CLEAR] one more time to remove the message.

  1. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [DEL] key. While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.

  2. Steps to re-installing the operating system:
~Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the PC and the calculator.
~Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OSDownloader
~Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS. If you could not install the new OS on your calculator goto step 4.

  3. Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary.

  4. If the above process did not reset your calculator. Try re-doing (Procedure 1) and, extend the time in step 4, by 5 minutes to 10 minutes before you put all the batteries back in the calculator.

(Procedure 2).

For a straight Ti 83 without the Plus or, Silver Edition label try the procedure below.

  1. Try a new set of AAA batteries.

  2. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [ON] key for 20 seconds. Reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on.

My HP 48GX just displays a black (all pixel) display screen with one vertical stripe down the middle. I tried reset button and now it displays 2 vertical stripes (the new one divides the right half in...

I just had this exact problem so I reset the memory as instructed below. Know I am back in business. Memory reset A memory reset will return the HP 48 to its factory-default state, which will erase all stored user memory. Use this feature very carefully.
  1. If necessary, turn the calculator on.
  2. Press and hold the ON+A+F keys simultaneously.
  3. Release all three keys at the same time. This should cause the calculator to display the message "Try to recover memory?"
  4. Press the A key to attempt to recover memory or the F key to erase the user memory. When A is pressed, occasionally the objects in memory are recovered in new sub-directories of HOME labeled D.01, D.02, et cetera, although there is no guarantee that all of the variables will be recovered. Pressing the F key will cause all information stored by the user to be erased from calculator memory. This will also affect any RAM card that is merged with main memory. If the card is not merged or it is write-protected, it will not be affected by this reset.
Hardware symptoms and solutions I. The display screen has a blue/purple blotch of color, even when the unit is off The screen is damaged, and the calculator requires service. Please contact HP . II. All of the pixels on the screen are lit (blue)
  1. Try to adjust the contrast by holding down the ON key and repeatedly pressing the [ - ] key.
  2. If the screen is still dark, try to halt the system using the keyboard.
  3. If this does not correct the problem, try to reset the system using the reset hole with the batteries removed.
  4. If this does not work, remove the batteries and let the unit sit for 48 hours. After 48 hours, replace the batteries. If the problem persists, attempt a memory reset. Although removing the batteries for 48 hours should erase the user memory, performing a memory reset will ensure that the calculator is reset to its factory defaults.
  5. If the problem persists, the unit requires service. Please contact HP .

Hi,
As the first step to you diagnosis remove the Main batteries out of the calculator and leave them out for a while. The memory should be cleared.
If that does not restore your calculator you may have to use the procedures suggested by TI for calculators that do not turn on.

I cannot access my memory

"How can i delete this program without using memory?"

By that I am assuming the memory key on the TI, the only other way to remove applications is through the TI connect software which will require the use of a USB cable in the case of the TI-84.

TI connect will also let you backup anything important you may have on your calc. Good Luck:
