How can you program games
Do not even go there. The calculator is pretty basic and does not have memory to store instructions. If you want to take up programming ( a worthwhile endeavor) buy a graphing calculator such as a TI 89 itanium, a TI Voyage 200PLT, a TINspire, or a Casio Graphing calculator FX 9860 SD, ClassPad 330, or some top of the line HP calculators (HP 49G+, HP 50 G).

The buttons on my TI-30X
I had the same issue.
- Open up the calculator.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the two screws holding the display section down.
- Carefully pry the button circuit board up and remove it.
- Use an electrical cleaner and lint free cloth to wipe off the button circuit board.
- Re-assemble and test.
For me, cleaning off the button circuit board restored all buttons to working order. When it is disassembled, and after cleaning, you could flip the board, display, etc. up and out of the case and test to see if it works as well.

How do I convert from
The following examples will demonstrate how to
convert decimals into fractions using the TI-30Xa and TI-30Xa Solar.
Please be aware that TI-30Xa Solar School Edition calculators do not
have this functionality.
Example: Convert .25 to 1/4
- Input .25, press [2nd][<--] (says F<>D above it).
** F<>D means fraction to decimal, decimal to fraction.
Example: Convert 1.38 to 1_19/50
- Input 1.38, press [2nd][<--].
Example: Convert 9.75 to 9_3/4
- Input 9.75, press [2nd]{<--].

How to calculate 24k gold in kilogram
That depends on how much gold you have. 24k merely indicates that the gold is pure, without any other substances mixed in. It refers to the purity, not to the total amount. If you have one kilogram of 24k gold, you have one kilogram of pure gold. If you have two kilograms of 24k gold, you have two kilograms of pure gold. If you have two kilograms of 12k gold, you have one kilogram of pure gold and one kilogram of something else.

On my TI 30 XA, I can not get it out of Degree mode.
Why do you want to get out od Degree mode. If you are doing trigonometric calculations, the angle unit is pertinent. If you are not doing trigonometry, it is irrelevant. You say you can cycle through DEG, RAD, GRAD. That is the way to set the angle unit. However, there will always be an indicator on the screen (DEG, RAD, or GRAD).
