I have a 2004 lincoln town car. Headlight needs repair, bulb out. Ny mechanic states balast is shot. Already replaced bulb. Is there a balast on this car ?

The stock halogen headlamps that came with the car DO NOT use a ballasting system. However, many owners upgrade to aftermarket xenon headlamps for a brighter output which do require a ballast.

if it is a hid light system they are famous for the balast going bad. follow the wires from light bulb. if they go into a box then its a hid system and it is the balast box that needs to be replaced. also check the fuses, sometimes there are seperate fuses for each headlight.

I've replaced the bulb, the passenger side headlight is still out. My feeling is the problem is electrical but I'm not sure.

Im assuming that you have check the fuses for the headlights and they are good.If your headlight is HID(Hight Intenstiy Discharge Xenon bulb) The headlight assembly will have a balast that might be defective.Deferentiating the Halogen from HID.Halogen will have a yellowish color when you turn on the headlights whereas the HID will have a whitesh to bluesh in color. If your clk320 does have a halogen then its highly probable you have an electrical problem but if its HID then you might want to replace the balast.

After replacing a bulb, when power on, it flash first green and goes to flash red continue to flashes red about 5 flash each time what should i do?

5 is a lamp driver fault, could be a poorly seated bulb or a bad ballast. Usaly it is a bad ballast. Previous bulb failure could have dammaged the balast.

HAS SOUND BUT NO PICTURE

okay the reason that the its turning off could be the fan isnt spining fast enoug hold your hand at the back of the tv to feel where the exhaust air if isnt good enough to help cool off the bulb then the fan may need to be replaced also the balast could be going bad and last check the power supply that feeds the balast make sure its a constant dc voltage

Ballast error status - lamp voltage too high

You need to replace the balast as the voltages are buringing the bulb out and this is caused by a balast that is bad. The baslast is what the bulb connects to this has a sensor on it that relays voltages and heat back to the main control unit.

4-bulb flourescent fixtures flickers before coming on completely

The problem may be related to the balast unit in your light fixture. Check under the cover plate in the middle of the fixture and look for a rectangular (usually black) box. If it has any brown liquid leaking from it then it definately needs to be replaced. Read the label on the box and record the values. Take your stats to the local electrical shop and buy a replacement balast. Installation will require the breaker to be shut off to the circuit. Be absolutely sure you match the wires before attaching them together. Disposal of the old balast must be done through your local recycling center. The material in some of these is quite dangerous.

I would problably suggest contacting an electrician if you are at all uncomfortable with handling a re-wiring job. Good luck with your situation.
