Question about LG 52SX4D 52" HDTV
Tony! I had the same problem and here is the story I checked the bulb and it was cool so I called a guy since checking the balast is dangerous and you need the parts. The problem with this tv is that there is no good method for checking a problem they just plug parts in untill it works that being said he had my tv for a month. (due to having to order more parts. it could be the color wheel or different boards. for some reason my color wheel and two boards were shot so it cost me 900 bucks. I have a good surge protector so I ruled that out. From now on I will buy Samsung. after that it worked; however, shortly there after my lamp went out. I made a loud popping sound and I replaced it myself. A good place to buy a new lamp is http://www.intl-lighttech.com/ the part number is GTL-OS-69386. its after market however it seems better than what I had.

Try removing the lamp and inspecting it if it's not shattered inside ,chances are it's ok and you might have another problem ,possible balast fault, that drives the lamp assy. look for fan operation also.

its a breand new lamp and balast...detecting no fault with fan operation...any other ideas?
if light engine, how much $$ am I looking at?
i'm already $500 into this, another $800-$1000 and I can easily buy a brand new TV!!!
you wanna buy this one for parts? :)
Like I said, I already bought a new lamp and balast...spent $500...and still nothing...since then, I bought another 50", and hey...it's a Samsung! It has been great (and I bought the extended 5 year warranty) This one only cost $1400.00. The reason I want to fix the LG is that I bought it 3 years ago when the technology was new and I paid $2700.00 for it. With the $500 already invested, I feel like I should give it another shot! If you think it's going to be another $900.00, then I'm not interested...I will take it to the dump!!! unless you want it...it has a brand new lamp and balast!!!!
