I have had this camera for a few years and within the past month, I am noticing that the pictures I take are coming in what looks like sepia and blurry. I have fiddled with the settings, but still can't isolate the problem.
Dear caloividal:
What you are describing sounds like the early stages of a CCD image sensor problem. Discoloration and / or blurriness are typical first symptoms. I would simply do a reset of your default camera settings to see if this makes any difference. If not, contact Canon Tech Support at 1-800-828-4040 to see if they feel you are experiencing the CCD Image Sensor Advisory issue, which this camera is covered under. If you are then the issue will be repaired at no cost to you.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
HeavyDLB
On the PowerShot S500 you do a reset by performing the following steps:
1. Turn the camera on
2. Press and HOLD DOWN the MENU button for 5 - 8 seconds
3. You will get a "Reset Settings to Default?" message
4. Press your right directional button to select Yes and press your SET button. The camera will reset itself.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
HeavyDLB
