How to enter boot menu on a lenovo think center M73 computer

This can depend on your OS. For slower booting systems, press and release F12 repeatedly after pressing the power button. Release the button when you see the Choose Boot Device screen. Select the boot device and press Enter. (Note: some systems may not boot from all USB devices or CD/DVDs if they are set for a type of secure boot (UEFI).)

With some systems, you may need to enter the BIOS setup utility to allow the system to boot from a specific device. Try pressing F1 repeatedly after pressing the power button until you hear a lot of beeps or a splash screen. If there is a password for the setup utility, you'll need to enter that password. If you reach the Windows lock screen or the desktop, you missed the timing. Under Windows 10, go to the power icon in the Start menu (on the lower left). Press shift and click Restart. You will see an option for entering the BIOS on restart. Select this and wait. Once in the Setup utility look for the boot menu. You can change the order of the list. Press the correct buttons for save and exit to boot to the desired device.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(Note: some wireless keyboards may not work in the setup utility. Make sure that a wired keyboard isn't plugged into a USB 3.0 port if you need to load a USB driver to enable the port.)

How to Boot From A Windows 7 Password Reset Disk?

Forgot Windows 7 password? It seems to be a universal iusse as widespread of Windows 7. To solve this problem, you can either buy a burned Windows password recovery CD on-line or burn such a password recovery disk withWindows 7 password reset software. But no matter which method you choose, you have to boot your locked computer from the password recovery disk. However, you will feel frustrated when you have little computer skill. Take these 2 methods as your reference when you encounter the similar problem.
Of course, firstly , you need to create a Windows 7 password reset disk, and then pay attention on how to boot from the Windows password reset disk .
Method OneInsert a burned Windows 7 password recovery CD in your locked computer boot the locked computer from the CD/DVD as follows:

1. Turn on or restart the locked computer, watch the screen for a message like "Press to http://www.passwordunlocker.enter SETUP "or something similar. Press this key as soon as you see the message to enter BIOS menu.
Note: The key pressed to enter BIOS is different based on manufacturers, but F2 or Delete are the most common keys
2. Use arrows to choose Boot on the taskbar, select Boot Device Priority and press Enter.

3. Set CD ROM to the first boot device according to the prompts on the right.

4. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS. You computer will restart with the changed BIOS settings

Method Two
If the method above doesn't work, you can also try to enter Boot Menu to boot the locked computer from the burned CD/DVD as follows:

1. Insert a Windows 7 password recovery CD in your locked computer.

2. Start the locked computer and immediately tap and keep tapping F8, ESC or other keys until the Boot Menu screen appears.

3. Select CD ROM as the first boot device and press Enter. Click "Terminal" to open a terminal window.

Type the following command at the Linux prompt and press the "Enter" key:

sudo passwd

To change the Administrator account password, the password of "root" is changed.

The "sudo" command gives the current user temporary Administrator access, in this instance, to change the password of "root."

First, the user will see a Unix prompt asking for the current user's password.

Type the user password for the current user account. Press the "Enter" key. Next, Unix will prompt the user for the new password for "root."

Type the new password for "root." Press "Enter." Finally, a Unix prompt will require a confirmation of the password.

Retype the new password for root, and press "Enter." The Administrator (root) account password for Ubuntu is now reset

or

Boot computer into recovery mode. Reset your computer and as it is booting, hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard.

You will be presented with the boot menu.

Select "Recovery Mode" from the boot menu.

It is usually the the second boot option.

Wait for computer to boot up.

You will be presented with the Recovery Menu. Select "Drop to Root Shell Prompt."

Type "ls /home" and press "Enter." Note:

The command starts with a lower case L, not a capital i.

You will be presented with a list of usernames of accounts installed on the computer.

Type "passwd username" where username is replaced by the name of the account you want to reset. For example, if the username of your account was "jeff" you would type "passwd jeff" and press "Enter." You will be prompted to create a new password.

Enter a new password of your choosing.

Note: You will see no visual response when you type in your newly selected password; however, the computer still will register the input. Press "Enter."

You will be asked to retype your password.

Re-enter the same password and press "Enter."

Your password is now reset.

Type "Exit" to return to the boot menu and select "Resume Normal Boot" to restart Ubuntu.

Hi Dianegooch20
There are two types of user 1. Administrator 2. User
If you are a user and haven't set the administrator password then you can try to safe boot the steps given below
To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
 1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
 2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
 3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

Acer Aspire 7520 Laptop won't accept password

try typing your password in with the caps-lock on. many times this may go unoticed if both password fiels show * instead of the actual password being entered. if that doesnt work for ya go here and chose one of the 5 options to recover or delete the need for a password. you must first download these and creat an .iso disk to be run at startup.

Troubleshooting Password Problem OS 10.4.11

Follow these steps -

1. Start up from a Mac OS X Installation CD (one with a version that is closest to the version of Mac OS X installed on your Mac).
You should first disable Open Firmware password protection, if it is enabled. Hold the C key as the computer starts.
2. From the Installer menu Choose "Reset Password" (if you have Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger this will be the "Utilities menu").
Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the CD yet.
3. Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
4. Set the user name of your original administrator account.
Do not select "System Administrator (root)".
5. Enter new password.
6. Save.
7. Follow these instructions to set Keychain Access -
