If the data is still occupying space but is hidden, try this,
1. open notepad
2. type in "attrib -r -s -h /s /d" without the quotes.
3. click on [file] menu on the notepad and click on [save].
4. on the dialog box that appears save as unhide.bat and select save as type [all files].
5. Save the file.
Browse to your pendrive and copy the file in it(*DO NOT create a folder and put it in it wont work)
6. Double click on the file (unhide.bat)
7.Your folders should become visible.

If you formated your drive you can recover your data by use of recovery software like one on this site http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm and choose FAT.my pendrives are infected with - 6497945.jpg

My system showing recycler\e5188982.exe pls find the solution.

I had my problem on that on my external hard disk..got worried and find lots of answers but didnt work out on me I tried my own and it worked.
Those folder are on shortcut icon right....just follow these steps
My Operating System is Vista

for example you have folder name "Pictures"

1.Right click that folder then go to Properties.
2.Look for toolbar Shortcut in that menu you will find Target then it has something like these..
==> %windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c "start %cd%RECYCLER\e5188982.exe &&%windir%\explorer.exe %cd%Pictures
3.Delete all that then change into F:\Pictures then press OK.
4.You can now open the folder next thing you do is create a new folder where you want to copy that file.you can do it in that same hard drive which is your F: right.
5.open the folder Picture...press Ctrl+A it will be highlighted all the files then Ctrl+X to cut the files then go to the new folder you created then paste it there or Ctrl+V.
6.Check the Picture folder if there is no file left then delete it and do it to other files.

Hope it helps...

My home laptop has been infected with Security Tool. Any advice?

Security tool trojan will alter your .exe files and in the end you will not be able to access/run any .exe file.
AVG ver. 8.5 does not detect it either.
Manual removal:

Search in /Document and Settings for "ave.exe" and "av.exe": delete all entries found. If you cant delete them go into Task Manager and end the process called ave or av then retry to delete.

Search in C:\Windows for "ave*.pf" and "av*.pf" -> delete the entries.

In Notepad paste:

[Version]
Signature="$Chicago$"
Provider=atropine

[DefaultInstall]
DelReg=regsec
AddReg=regsec1

[regsec]
HKCU, Software\Classes\.exe
HKCU, Software\Classes\secfile
HKCR, secfile
HKCR, .exe\shell\open\command

[regsec1]
HKCR, exefile\shell\open\command,,,"""%1"" %*"
HKCR, .exe,,,"exefile"
HKCR, .exe,"Content Type",,"application/x-msdownload"

Save this with the .inf (instead of the default .txt) extension on your desktop. Right click on the file and choose Install
Reboot.

I AM TRYING TO REPLACE SEGATE BARRACUDA 7200.7 80GB HARD DRIVE WHICH IS VIRUS INFECTED WITH SEGATE U8 DRIVE TO GET THE COMPUTER RUNNING. iF i GET THE COMPUTER RUNNING THEN I PLAN TO PUT SEGATE BARRACUDA AS...

If your u8 has an operating system installed, yes, you can do that.
Be sure to boot the u8 in Safe Mode to copy your files.

I would also recommend checking the copied files for viruses before you use them.

Hello, I am experienceing difficulties with my PC. I can't access to any folders and cant open the start menu.

You might have a Virus. In the case of a Virus infection I would most likely disconnect the Hard drive from the machine, scan it on another machine ( using AVG7 + AVGAS = AVG Antivirus and AVG Anti Spyware Scan) remembering to turn off system restore while scanning on the drive.

If you have successfully found and removed the virus infection, remember to delete your system volume information and recycler folder on the drive. virus files tend to infect these folders.

When you plug in your HDD into your machine again, you might want to do a Windows repair; to fix the issues that the virus has caused OR use a registry repair tool to repair registry items. Another option would be to create a new user name. The settings in that new accound should be working fine and you should be able to access the start menu and your folders again.

How can i remove virus worm/autoit permanently

its simple guys..!!!
if it asks for permission to access outlook..don't permit it because it is a smart virus and is going to spread it to all the people on your contact list...!!!
simply open task manager and end process tree of KHATRA.exe , gHost.exe , xplorer.exe and OUTLOOK.exe seperately...!!
then run your anti virus or download one if you don't have one..!!!
run a complete computer scan in detail..!!
then delete all files which are infected by the virus because the results contain only duplicate files which are created by the virus
