Hi,
This is a common problem with Sharp LCD models. This seems to be a faulty IR circuit. A simple solution that sharp gave to their customers - unplug the TV for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then plug it in. Most of the times it would work. This is more of a design fault as there is a problem with IR circuit that somehow freezes and needs a reboot. They have certain upgraded firmwares for the same. It could be due to faulty IR sensor ( though rare possibility ).Unfortunately, this is not a DIY and you need to call Sharp.
Note - This is a common problem and Sharp is aware. Calling a local tech would not help as this has to be taken care ONLY by Sharp.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
When our tv stop responding to remote we bought numerous new ones to no avail. But the following fixed it:
Find earplug jack on tv, turn on tv, then plug in earplugs & unplug earplugs & turn tv off.
Then turn on using remote. Somehow this resets IR sensor in tv. This worked for us
Hi.
The TV must first be tested using a programmable remote or (better) a different original remote. If remote is OK, then the problem is likely the IR sensor inside the TV.
Here the part: Sharp LC-32SB21U KE264 NE264WJ IR Sensor Board #208

Thanks -- is it difficult to replace ourselves? My husband is pretty handy with electronics -- he's put his own PC together.
I'm pretty sure it is bad since the cable remote that Time Warner programmed for us doesn't work with it anymore either.
Thanks -- this looks like the solution. Are there online instructions for replacing it?
