I cannot connect to the internet. I've had my Acer Aspire One netbook for about a year and this has never been a problem before. Then for some reason this morning, it just decided to stop connecting to the internet. It said it the signal strength was 'excellent' but the status was 'limited or no connectivity'. I think it's important to mention that there are two other laptops in the house which haven't had any problems at all connecting to the internet. I haven't downloaded anything and I wasn't on any websites that I don't use regularly, plus I also had anti-virus protection so I don't think it was a virus. Anyway, after trying most of the day to get a connection with no luck, I decided to restore the factory settings. This hasn't helped- I still got the same message. I fiddled around a bit with thesettings by following other posts with the same problem (such as trying start, run, 'cmd', enter, congigip /renew and other various tips) but the only development I've made is that it now says 'Signal Strength: Excellent, Status: Connected'. However, when I click on Internet Explorer, it just says 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. I've made sure the 'work offline' is unticked and also that in internet options, under the connections tab, LAN settings is set to Automatically Detect Settings. I have no idea what to donext. I'm a dummy when it comes to anything technical but would be grateful for any help you can give me- although please put it in terms that someone with basic computer knowledge would understand so that I can follow it. Please help before I tear my hair out!!!

SOURCE: I can't connect to the internet on my ACER Aspire

Most Acers use an IPN2220 Wireless card. If yours does and your router is using WPA or WPA2 (TKIP or AES) security then you'll need to update the driver by searching for it manually using the Custom button (Hardware) in Windows update (instead of Express). This driver is not part of XP service pack 2 or 3. In my experience if you don't update to the newest common form of home wireless security (WPA2 AES) then the older formats seem to become unreliable

SOURCE: Won't connect to my wireless Internet

I will be amazed if this review meets the public eye before it is skimmed out of the pile but know that it is the honest truth...
I bought an Acer netbook last week, could get wireless connection but was unable to surf the web. I called customer support and they insisted that I would have to purchase technical support which would essentially cost another $200.
I decided to take the computer(my fathers christmas gift) back to try another one because the additional $200 was over my budget. After I exchanged the laptop for another computer to only come to face with the same problem, I was assured that if I purchased the support that a technition would be able to resolve the matter.
After over 3 hours they were unable to resolve the matter and told me that there was nothing further that they could do. I filed a claim for a refund on the technical support and was (VERY RUDELY I MIGHT ADD) denied. I'm really not sure which is worse, the customer support or the product. After my experiences not only would I not recommend purchase, I would strongly advise against it. I hope this review helps someone before they make the same mistakes that I did.

Have an acer Aspire One netbook and for some reason I cannot connect to the internet even though it is saying that a wifi connection has been established. This has never happened before

If you are connecting on an open WiFi (does not have WEP or WPA enabled), then make sure you are connected to the correct SSID (wireless ID) and not on some other open SSID. If you are on the right SSID, check that you don't have limited connectivity due to low signal strength. If OK, then open Internet Explorer to use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool...
1. click on Tools tab
2. click on Diagnose Connection Problems...
3. click on Next button and follow the steps
If unsuccessful, try powering off the wireless router and the cable/dsl modem for a few minutes and then powering up the modem first followed by the wireless router. Once the netbook has re-established the WiFi connection, repeat the above procedure to Diagnose Connection Problems. Finally, if still unseccessful, connect directly to your wireless router using an ethernet cable from one of the four RJ-45 LAN ports on the router to the netbook's 10/100 ethernet RJ-45 port on its left side. A LAN connection icon should now show in the bottom right of the Desktop's Toolbar. Hovering the mouse cursor over it shows the Local Area Connection pop-up with Speed and Status. If Status is connected, then open Internet Explorer again and use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool to check connectivity to the internet. If still unresolved, the next step would be to log into the router to check its WAN status and depending on the results, you may have to contact your Internet Service Provider.

I have bought an Acer Aspire One netbook from a friend. I also have a 3 mobile dongle but I just cannot get the netbook to connect to the internet. I have tried to go on the Live Update tab but it keeps...

The Acer Aspire netbook I bought has a switch on it to connect to the WiFi Internet G. If you want to use the dongle to communicate on the Internet, then first try to use the built in Wifi to install the driver for it.

I have an Acer aspire one netbook and the wifi connects with my router no problem, but when i try to type in any website, it says: the adress is not valid. I know it is not my router or my internet...

Open network connections and see if the internet connection is enabled. If not, right click and choose enable. If this is the first time you've tried connecting to internet with Acer, then you can run through the internet connection wizard to set things up.

Acer Netbook is "Connected" but can't use internet

You first need to establish that you have internet available to your router via cable modem, dsl, etc. Unless your modem is also your wireless router. Take your ethernet connection or cable that resembles a large phone cable and plug in your Acer One directly into the router. You should then be able to get internet. If not, you may have a problem with your internet in general and need to contact your Internet Service Provider. Also if possible try another pc, see if it has internet. Lastly try reinstalling wireless diver in device manager.
