Don has it about right. Step by step: Back out both air filter wing nuts, remove top filter assem. Use 10mm socket to remove two nuts and one bolt, needle nose pliers to remove fuel line, Slide carb 1/2 way off bolt studs and remove spring from molded throttle control, push same black molded piece all the way open to lift out govenor rod. Slide off carb. Be careful to keep all gaskets intact. Remove float bowl with 10mm wrench to expose float. It's best to mark or note float bowl position on carb. Note the small ring gasket and make sure it doesn't get pinched during reassembly. Pull out float pin, remove float, check rubber tip out fuel valve. Clean seat with a Q-tip and tooth polish. Remove carb jet set down into middle stem using a narrow screwdriver. Removing jet will allow needle just underneath to fall out or pushed out from the end exposed in the carb body. Clean both pieces. Spray carb cleaner thru three idle jets exposed on the main air flow hole adjacent to the throttle butterfly. This may sound like too much trouble but it really is very little extra to do to avoid the possibility of not having a properly working engine. Reassemble. Top engine speed can be set by adjusting phillips spring/screw against throttle lever tap. Do not try to compensate lack of pump performance by increasing engine speed.
I have just repaired my carburetor on a 340 GX on the motor take the carburetor off the engine removed the float bowl on the carburetor remove the pin for the float looking from the float bowl the center part of the carburetor extends down about inch and a half to 2 inches there is a carburetor jet that is plug their you have to remove it to clean it I used a single wire from a wire brush it's very easy I hope this helps Don
Pour large amounts of liquid carb cleaner into the gas tank
Let it run for a couple of minutes then shut it off and let it sit for a couple of days.
