SOURCE: cracked screen
the best choice is to sell the tv for parts, panel is too expensive, sell as is to get some of your money.post to E BAY for auction you might get lucky to get more for your money.
SOURCE: Screen black out
this is a upper buffer board problem, the board is not to expensive but the if you are not a repairman, I would not attempt it
SOURCE: CRACK LCD TV SCREEN
I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.
For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. LCD screens really break easily as you know. http://www.tv-armor.com

I'm looking for a broken screen HP-S5053 to buy from someone. I have a new screen that needs a home. I need one that is complete and working other than the screen. Or I would sell my screen to you. Thanks, Wade [email protected]

Solution that worked for me:
Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.
Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote
select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point
will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.
