The Samsung brand is the most universal remote compatible tv out there, sounds like either a neighbor or even someone in your own home has a Samsung product that will work on your plasma. for example if someone within range has a Samsung dvd or blue ray player the volume up and down button will work on the Samsung tv also.

i did come across this problim, you gonna have to do the next step. unplug the button pc on tv that control youre volume,channels ext. but you gonne have to use youre remote to see if youre problem is solved. i run my tv only from remote, after this problem you got.

You have a shorted main board in the TV, it is more expensive to repair this than to replace the TV at current TV flat screen prices. Also I suggest the brand Vizio, it has the bet reliability ratings of any brand hands down.

That's a a very vague question. One possibility is that you need to plug it into power. Another possible issue is that the outlet you plugged it into doesn't have power itself.
Maybe the video feed you are using is sending a black screen. Is there any indication of power on the TV?
