Hi, I bought Asus Wireless Router RT-N13U. I notice that there was no entry of password for security, which means anybody (even neighbors) can access this router? Did I miss anything during the setup? How could I rectify it?

Thanks for the instruction. Next I cannot figure is where do I access thehttp://192.168.1.1 or..., or where do I check my computer ip address? The ethernet cable is connected to my laptop now. I went to manually connect to wireless network which is for enter information for wireless network, I don't think this is the right page.

You need to enable WEP or WPA or WAP in wireless security. For that access your wireless router with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on wireless then wireless security then enable WEP security enter Password then apply and save settings then restart router . Then only those can connect who know that password. . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hook up an ASUS N13U Router to a Speedstream 4100 Modem - ATT DSL

Both the modem and the router should have an ethernet cable connection. The modem probably has only one, the router may have more than one. Look for the one on the router labeled WAN or INTERNET or MODEM connection. Connect the two with a standard 8 pin RJ-45 connector cable.

Then, ordinarily, just reboot each. Turn off the router, reboot the modem, the turn on the router. It should connect automatically.

Why is there a delay in loading websites when using an ethernet connection to my router??

Hello,
There will always be some kind of delay, though it shouldn't be real noticeable as your requests get routed. You may have a bad network cable that is dropping packets. Make sure you are not running your network cable along side power cords for more then a couple feet. This can really mess up data transfer and speed.
There are updates for the firmware to your router. Make sure you are running the latest. http://www.asus.com/Networks/WiFi_Networking/RTN13U/#download
Don't forget to backup your settings before updating the firmware.

How to set up a password on ASUS RT-G32 wireless router so others cannot access my internet services.

Open a browser. Type in the router IP 192.168.1.1. Login to the router using your user id and password. If you have never set up a user id or password, then use the factory default ones to access. Once into the router settings, change the admin password to avoid anyone later accessing the router and changing your settings. Once you save the admin password change, you will be kicked out and must login again with the new password. Once in, go to wireless settings. Here you will able to set a wireless password (security key) for your wireless LAN. Once you save and exit, you will need to go to all your wireless devices and modify them with the security key in order for them to access the network. Once the key is in the router, your network is secure from outsiders getting in without knowing the key.

My ASUS RT-N13U is just not switching on. The electricity network works ok. What can it be?

Here's what one person said about the router, don't know if it will help. Read the 3rd review down: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320032
If you google "Asus RT-N13U problems, you will see a bunch. It seems that a lot of people have to reset the thing every day, even when it's working, and that something isn't right in too many cases. Might be a compatability issue, or some other hardware/software issue. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Can't access router via 192.168.1.1

Hi Again

Answer is simple; network security (WEP or WPA) key is different than regular password. Entry should be Hexadecimal, However you can use pass phrase generator by entering regular characters or you can enter directly. For example if you we want to put to "password" as network key hexadecimal input will be exactly 2B204A3F1042643E480FDD655E for 128 Bit WEP. Since you are unable to reach the router. Please reset it first. so it will be accessible from your computer without Network key. Network key will be enough for the 1st line
Hope you will resolve the issue.

Good Luck
