Hi my xbox has the code 0102 what dos that mean i know it means unknown error but how do i fix it

though it's most likely GPU related literally means the console does not know what is wrong. possibly a short or cold solder joint somewhere. So far there is 1 major theory for what causes most of these errors is that the Ram, CPU, or GPU are not soldered properly to the mother board due either to poor manufacturing or excessive heat up and cool down cycles that stress, weaken and eventually break the soldered connection.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced. I have also heard of limited success by simply switching the AV cable from "HDTV" mode to "TV" mode.

your gpu is coming off the mobo. thats what 0102 normally means.

It means your system has the dreaded RROD Or Red Ring Of Death,

If you turn the system on and hold the sync button and then hit the eject button, You can find its code you will have to do it 4 times, 1 light means 1 2 lights means 2 3 Means 3 and 4 lights means 0.

also look at the back of your system locate the manufacture date, If it's within 3 years of that date don't open the system call microsoft and have them fix it for free.

The XBox error code 0102, is an error in the digital backbone or the CPU or GPU or RAM. This error is generally caused by a cold solder connection between the main board and the GPU. I would recommend calling microsoft about fixing it.

This is called the 3 rings of death and is well known amongst xbox users. including me... Ive had 1 xbox replaced because of it. Try the following to diagnose the issue. All four lights illuminate = 0
One Light = 1
Two Lights = 2
Three Lights = 3

Example:

Turn on your "dead" xbox. Wait for the 3 red lights. Once you get them hold the "Synch" (for the wireless remote) button and the eject button down simultaniously. All four lights flash. (0) Press the eject button again and only one light (1) press again and all four light up (0) press again and two lights (2). Error code is 0102. compare this code to the table below to find out what is wrong with your X360. Is it overheating? Power Cord? Hardware? what ever the code is refer to this list for the reason it is flashing...

The Code he got was 0102 which means the computer does not know the problem as it is not hardware or heating or anything like that. Could be dust, loose solder or static! He used a can of compressed air and his X360 IS BACK!!!!!! He did not know for how long but he played several hours after and had not one Hiccup. This after a whole week of the dreaded RINGS OF DEATH!!

The red ring of death is a generic error code due to the design of the xbox. Microsoft has offered an extended three year warranty to anyone who is afflicted by the red ring of death. Try calling them at 1-800-4MY-XBOX with your consoles serial number, and they will start the replacement process to repair your console.

Error code 0102 is still unknown The xclamp mod is a possible fix for this error there is also a possability that the error is caused by a bad soldering join on your cpu, gpu or your ram. I would check all those parts with a magnifiying glass to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder. Another way to possibly fix this is to turn off your HD format on the AV cables this might work.

if you have 4 flashing red segments, then it's a graphic VGA lead problem, 3 flashing segments means a hardware failure.

 

If you are continually getting problems, return it to your retailer for an exchange as Microsoft guarantee the 360 for 12 months on hardware failure.
