Honda Tiller revs and works for 30 seconds and then shuts down.

Tiller will work for about 30 seconds and then stops. The tiller starts fine and idles fine but when revved up it will stop after 30 seconds. Tiller is 4 years old and not been serviced.

Hello. you have some gunk in the carburator. Get a can of starter fluid or carburator cleaner aerosol and a helper. Remove the air filter and start it up. Spray a little starter fluid into the air cleaner to keep it running for three or four minutes and the problem should clear. If it does not clear the carburator will have to be disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt. j.

My mantis tiller with a honda gx22 engine starts then shuts off after approx. 30 sec.

If your unit has a primer bulb, start your engine . When it starts to die push your primer, if the engine comes back to life you have a carb issue.

The tiller starts and runs well for about 10 to 15 minutes but then will bog down and stop running . It will restart and run for about 30 seconds and then stop again. Any ideas about what is causing this,...

It sounds like a carburetor fuel issue. Which you could try attempting to adjust the carburetor (or have someone else do such) to see if that cures the problem.

2 year old gas in tank. tiller won't stay running

When you drained the gas from the gas tank did you also take the carb apart and clean it. There should be a bowl that the fuel line from the gas tank goes to. There is a float in that bowl that has to go up and down to regulate how much gas goes into the engine. You may have a build up of varnish from old gas on the piece that the float moves up and down. Also there should be an idle jet that you screw in and out to adjust the idle. That also could be junked up.

Engin runs fine at idle but stalls out at high idle and wont rev up.

Hi 5flash... Get an assistant and a can of starter fluid. Remove the air cleaner and spray some starter fluid into the air intake. Start it up and spray the starter fluid as you move it to high idle, repeat until it works properly. Joe

MANTIS TILLER WITH HONDA GX25 ENGINE STARTS FINE BUT WHEN GIVEN THROTTLE DIES OUT. ALSO A LITTLE WHILE BACK OIL WAS COMING OUT OF CARB BUT THIS HAS NOW STOPPED. THIS IS A 4 STROKE ENGINE WITH APPROX 4...

I also have Mantis tiller for 2 years. From the very beginning I had a problems. I was referred by Mantis to the repair store and was charged $90.00 for oil drainage. The second time I was waiting for handle replacement for ~ 1 month. This tiller can't handle even little jobs and the warranty doesn't worth a dime. Maybe I will be more successful using it in my living room . I have an equipment with Briggs and Stratton engines and I never had a problem.

To me Mantis mean big advertisement and waste of money.

Tines turning, mantis 2 cycle tiller

sounds like a piston seizure. are you using correct oil and ratio. carb could be going lean and causing the cylinder to over heat, adjust high speed mixing screw and hope no damage has resulted.

Engine bogs down when speed is increased.

Ok I have r Royobi Tiller (30CC Gas) And last year it ran fine after rebuilding the Carb. This year it was "hard starts" Idles fine, (Tiny whisps of blue smoke in exhaust with correct ratio) Even seems to run better with the choke "on" but still...at idle only. as soon as I touch the throttle...its bogs down in tune with how much gas I give it. Little throttle? Little bog down, Little more throttle? Almost stalls, a normal throttle rev? it stalls dead! Then starts right back up again in 1 pull and idles fine again!? WTF? So after cleaning a clean carb again, (twice) and seeing no change I thought I'd go look at the original diaphragm and compare it with the rebuild kit diaphragm (which is the one in the carb.) And guess what? The replacement has a larger rivet by a factor of "2". So basically it was flooding the carb, I bent the needle tang down, better but no cigar. But I could rev it half way now. A second disassemble to bend it yet a bit further and Vrooom vroom vrooom ****! So check your needle valve even though you think its 100%. (Especially if you rebuilt the carb with a kit!)

Stalling under load

Check the piston rings and the valves. One of them is leaking. If you run the machine as is it will soon break down altogether...Lee
