I forgot my hotmail live password, and secret answer

• (IT would be advisable to change your password periodically to avoid issues with the password.)

• If you have provided an alternate email (try creating a temporary alternate email address to retrieve the email to reset your password) for your Windows Live Hotmail account, you can also send the password reset email to that address. • IT will ask some information about your location (in case your out of the country) and update the secret question and secret answer. and continue.
• now you should be able to enter a new password, confirm the new password and continue then done.

Reset your password by requesting a password reset e-mail

On any Windows Live ID site or service sign-in page, click Forgot your password?.

Select Send password reset instructions to me in e-mail.

Select the e-mail address where you want the password reset e-mail to be sent, and then click Continue.

On the confirmation page, click OK.

When you receive the password reset e-mail, click the link in the e-mail to reset your password,
and then follow the online instructions.

In the Country/Region list, select your country or region, select your state, and then type your ZIP code

The ZIP code is used to identify each postal delivery area for the purpose of sorting mail.)
or postal code ( A series of letters and/or digits that are added to a postal address
and used by the postal service for the purpose of sorting mail.) if you’re prompted to do so.
If you've moved since signing up for your Windows Live ID,
use the location information you last provided.
If you've provided both a home and work location, enter your home location.
In the Question area in the Secret Answer box, type your answer to the question.
Click Continue.
Enter and confirm a new password, and then click Continue.
If prompted, enter an alternate e-mail address
(An alternate e-mail address is a secondary e-mail address registered with your Windows Live ID.
If you forget your password, you can have the password reset information sent to your alternate e-mail address.)
and click Continue, or click Skip to bypass this step.
On the You've changed your password page, click Sign in to Windows Live.

Note
Multiple attempts at signing in with the incorrect password might cause your account to become blocked.
If your account becomes blocked, you will be asked to Match the characters in the picture and sign in again.

If you are sure somebody highjacked your MSN account, the first option is to contact MSN support team As Soon As Possible.

If you go to the Hotmail website you will see 'Forgot your password?' link under where you would normally enter your password.

If you know your secret question you can input in there and hopefully you can then reset your password.


If not then you'll have to e-mail Windows Live customer services regarding this situation and they'll probably ask obscure questions like :
- If you have MSN messenger contacts and if so who are they
- If you've used an Xbox 12 Month Prepaid Card what is the Serial number
- What were your recent emails, recent contacts via email etc,
- IP Address when logging in to the account or of your 360.

Ok, go to http://hotmail.com
Click "Forgot my password"
- Enter your secret answer and then it should tell you your new password.

If you have an alternate email, ask hotmail to send this to your other email, and that'll contain the password. I hope this helped.

In the event that you forget your password, you can request to have the password reset information sent to your alternate e-mail address.) and click Continue, or click Skip to bypass this step.
8. On the You've changed your password page, click Sign in to Windows Live.

Well if its just a new email, then just create a new one.
