Will it read ANY kind of disks? Like music, or DVD's? If yes, then it may be your disks you are trying to play. If no, then your Disk Drive is bad and needs to be replaced.
Happening to me as well.. I have burned dvd-r that I made myself.. and it will not play.. I have all kinds of different dvd-r's and none of them worked.. ran the latest firmware.. nothing!
some players will only play back DVD-R .. some only DVD+R .. many older ones wont play DVD rewritables at all...
DVD+ and - R recordings have lower contrast than purchased factory DVDs .. so if the laser in your mustek has a bit of dust then that will first effect computer written disks .. you can get a cleaning disk .. those have little brushes that brush off dust from the laser lens .. more likely though if your mustek is an older type, that you have to use DVDs that are compatable with it .. while DVD+R is the better format .. most older DVD players are compatable with DVD-R ... so thats kind of the standard that works in most players .. however there are a few exceptions .. most newer equip will play either, even rewritables ...
If this happen with all disks , then the lens are dirty or faulty.
Try cleaning the lens with a cleaner DVD. If that is not enough, then the player must be taken apart to clean lens with isopropyl alcohol and cotton, or to replace the lens pickup.
Before attempting repair call manufacturer or retailer to check warranty status.
Did you finalize the disk? If not, this should solve your problem. When the disk is finalized you should be able to play it on your computer if you can play other DVDs on it. Some other DVD players can only play specific disks (i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R). This may be another problem.
