My Dads Toshiba A60 has not been charged for ages and when I went to check it out for him I had to re-enter the date and time. After that it says to press F1, once I pressed that it is asking for a password. Do not know what this password is, can anyone help.
You have a bios lock and the only oe who can open this is your father , unless you have your operating system disk
but using this will erase ard drive and all data will be lost , but can be reloaded via system disk
hope this helped
tony sorry that didnt help but my next step is just what cheekychop posted
Run computer in safe mode press f8 on start up, then using the control panel you can turn the password off under the user accounts section.
if that doesnt work then , my next thing would be to pull the hard drive
let me know now im intrested in why you cant get passed that

If you were to log on to the
manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as
usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer
Instruction Manuals, list
of Dealers,
for spare parts and service, Driver
downloads
and
Installation Instructions
as required.
This is the best way of ensuring up to
date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately we have tried using the restore disk, nothing happens and still goes to black screen asking for password.
We have tried pressing keys to take to another menu but again nothing happens. On start up the Toshiba logo appears and then goes straight to black screen asking for password. Pressing keys does not seem to work either.
