do you have a cd writer or rom drive is the first thing you have to check, if it's a writer then put the disc in first and it should give you an option to write files to cd accept then follow the the instruction to add your files, assuming your running windows. iif that does'nt work check to see if your discs are + or - it may be your wriiter will only accept one kind
There haven't been CD rom drivers since Windows 95 and not very many then. You might need specific software for writing CD's with a CDrom but you shouldn't need drivers. If it's not seeing your drive there may be something wrong with the drive itself.
Go to your My Computer icon, and click on properties and device manager under hardware tab. Go to your dvd/cd player, and check to see if you have one that is enabled or has a driver. (Go to the plus sign and double-click). If the hardware/drive is disabled, it will have a red cross on it, then just enable it by clicking on it and you will see an enable or disable tab. This will most likely solve the problem.

Insert your bootable Retail OS disc. Shutdown the computer. Upon powering on the pc. Press and hold F12 to load boot menu. Choose CD/DVD then enter. It will load up set up files. It will give you options to create and delete the partitions. It will be user friendly once you're on this screen.
