Hp's website should have the drivers you need. Just go to the support and download's page and type in the laptops model and it should then ask you for the type of OS you are using. And bingo a list of all the drivers.

you need to use a windows installation cd, it will let you format the computer.

try to change the motherboard of the laptop immediately you change it the system will work again.

You can download the drivers from HP/Compaq for free. If you lost the recovery CD's You'll have no choice but to buy the windows operating system from HP/Compaq v4000 series.

There haven't been CD rom drivers since Windows 95 and not very many then. You might need specific software for writing CD's with a CDrom but you shouldn't need drivers. If it's not seeing your drive there may be something wrong with the drive itself.

That is a complete service manual that you can download for your notebook.

For unknown reasons, only the computer gods know what happened. You need a new system board for your laptop. You can buy one and fix yourself or have a computer shop replace it. Your probably better off buying one off the internet and take it somewhere to have them replace it.
