I actually had the exact same problem...

And after searching google and ask for 2 hours to no avail I noticed SEVERAL other people owning this GPS wanted to get some new map updates


Well after having done a little research on the nextar website and to my surprise they actually had a contact phone number where someone answered on the second ring....

She then placed me on hold for about 30 seconds then came back saying that several people have called and asked for the same thing so Nextar is in the process of making them right now...


They explained to me that map upgrades will be available by end of this summer :D


Nextar fans may rejoice as our long awaited map updates finally have some light shined down upon them :)

Unfortunately Nextar does not offer an update for your unit. See units with available updates below.

Map Upgrades for GPS:

The below units are upgradable with the Navi Extra maps.
  • Q4: From Serial #ML0909020001 onwards. From Serial #YF0909123953 onwards
  • Q4-06: From Serial # ML0909000001 onwards
  • ME: All serial numbers
  • 43LT: All serial numbers
  • V4: All serial numbers
  • V5: All serial numbers
  • I4-BC: From Serial# ML1004000001-ML1004000504 and ML1005001701-ML1005002700
Important Map Upgrade Information:
Please note that refurbished units that have serial numbers starting with MLR or ML999 are not compatible with map upgrades.

Map update
Nextar does not provide map updates due to the cost.

New units are released with the most up - to - date maps at the time of manufacture.

They offer an exchange upgrade for the same price as a map update would cost you.

How do i get map updates
Hi,
Some models will allow free updates for up to six months from purchase. Even so, you can update your Nextar GPS maps by checking into here:
http://www.nextar.com/frontend/gps_navigation_systems.asp

They will ask you to register your unit if you haven't done so previously. Thanks, Bill

L am looking for map updates for nextar gps
Unfortunately Nextar GPS systems come with only USA/Canada or UKmaps , maps for other regions are not available, and there are also not much upgrade.
Maps from third party usually do not work on this unit.
The only way to know if a download is available is simply calling them at their toll free numbers, they do not make available online downloads:

The good thing is that upgrades and map are both free, while on other models you have to pay for maps.

Give them a call to unlock a download to latest map.

Nextar w3g-01
You'll just need to call Nextar customer support and purchase the updated map then you can install it on your device. There's no free map download, you can only get it from them
