SEAGATE HARD DISK DRIVE PROBLEM...

Good day experts...

I have 40gb seagate hard disk drive. When I try to install it with windows xp operating system the computer would give an error which is "error loading operating system" after i was able to create partition. I tried installing it with Windows ME Edition and would run install normally. What would be the problem of this hard drive i have?

thank you...God bless...

    Good day...

I think i don't have prob with my memory because when I tried to borrow a hard drive from a friend and install it with a windows xp operating system everything is okey. What i got confused is that why does my seagate 40gb hard won't accept windows xp but could run windows ME? Secondly, when i tried my friend's hard drive it could install windows xp. Is there any possibility that my seagate 40gb is not compatible with windows xp?

Hi,

I am venturing a guess, but it could possibly be your memory and not your hard drive.

Additionally, you can partition and format the 40Gb HD in a second PC using a third party utility such as Partition Magic which would also allow you to verify the integrity of the hard drive

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Grt seagate nice brand...
whenever yor OS is currepted this type of messages raised. its not only due to bad hard drive. I think your hard disk is ok. If you want to make a check you can run scan disk to see if you have any bad-secter on your HDD, if you have then its HDD problem, otherwise its ok.

Thanks
Iqbal

Seagate barracuda7200.7 ultra ata 40gb is not detected by my pc,I tried to format it by windows xp boot CD,still it was not detected, system notified that there is no hard disk installed in your system

For a hard drive to even be detected it has to spin - if not spinning it is kaput and needs to be replaced. Make sure that the unit is receiving power before you do anything drastic.

Seagate raw drive

Your data is already gone. The drive is raw. No partition no format.
here is a link to a free data recovery program, this probably wont work but may be worth a try

just be sure to opt out of all garbage they want to infest your computer with.

Hardrive Partition Is corrupt

As i review your explaination, there might be a problem in your hard drive. There so many problems i encountered in the hard drive i encountered like that. However, some problems can be fix using your solution and the other can be fix by replacing the BIOS Battery, and sometime the error in the hardrive is cause by a memory fault. If you are sure that the memory, motherboard, and the bios battery is good and working properly. I recommend you to replace your hard drive that the inconsistency problem will be fined.

Please do testing of your hard drive by connecting it to the other system.
