Have you unplugged the LG TV, waited about 2 minutes, and plugged back in to try and reset the TV?
After you reset the TV, try using the key pad on the TV first before you use the LG remote.

if the buttons on the tv itself are not working aswell as the remote the promlem is not with the remote. IS the TV old or second hand? its possible that the tv has failed and its just a coincidence, one tip would be to try a programmable remote controll like a one4all to see if that works, if see if the tv is still within warranty
Unplug TV set from the outlet, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, select right input with your remote if you using cable box or Punch the channel that you want to watch if you have cable service connected directly to the TV.
It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
